Tailgate problem

Featured Replies

the tailgate does not unlock when I press the "unlock" button on my key fob...the four doors unlock no problem, but only by standing beside the tailgate, and holding the tailgate button on the fob for a few seconds, can you hear the sensors click, and the tailgate door is released...

Is that not the way it is supposed to work? If you unlock the car and then use button on the tailgate, does it open?

That reads as though you've introduced variables which is causing confusion.

Press - no.

Hold - yes.

Irrespective of where you stand.

No, the tailgate remains locked, and only releases the lock if you stand beside it and hold the keyfob button in for a few seconds...

And what way have you it set in the menu ?

what menu?

Probably unrelated but are you a low mileage driver? Does the car sit unused for a few days regularly?
Might be low battery charge, stick it on a trickle charger and se if it helps.

On the central console, how the locks behave etc. Unlock on stop , all door or drivers door etc.

checked the menu, which I didn't know was there...nothing there to make it stop opening....this problem has only started a few months ago, for no apparent reason....looking at the lock itself, with the covers off, you can see the mechanism "flinch" slightly as the key fob is pressed, so I'm thinking that power is getting there, but it's something mechanical that's not working. I've ordered a new tailgate lock, and will replace it when it arrives...thanks for you help...
