tickover problems

Is this related to your previous thread?

  • Author

yes

Best you tell the story, is this after starting and the rpm @ about 1,100 for less than a minute then down to about 800 rpm. Is it in Neutral, parking brake on, AC & lights other than DRL,s off? Then going 1,000 -1,400 RPM, regardless of engine up to operating temp?

no the tickover as soon as it starts it is about 1400 rev and it does not drop at all

Why not ask the place that did the work what the tech has done wrong and get them to rectify it?

it was perfectly all right when it came out of the main dealers it has only started about two months ago.

you’re not really giving us any information that might help anybody start figuring out what might be causing it…

Original thread information - pasted here for convenience.

about a month ago i had the fuse box under the battery replaced by main dealer, very expensive my lights were flashing all over the dashboard. That cured it but the last month or So my tick over fluctuates between 1000/1400. Have cleaned throttle body but no change. Any suggestions.

Thanks

Try unplugging the MAF sensor. If it changes, try plugging it back in and see what happens.

The maf may be dying or possibly it was disconnected and not plugged back in fully causing bad sensor info to be sent to the ECU causing the revs the hunt

will try the maf sensor and see if that makes any difference thank you

Did you recalibrate throttle body after cleaning? and check for any vacuum leaks. Sons MK1 used to idle between 1100 and 1300rpm due to few splits in brake servo hose.
