Help to understand if they are electrical issue or software issue or mechanical part issue

Featured Replies

Hi Experts , Sorry to bother you, Can you please advice if these two serious issues are and resoluble by vcds , I believe novice mech/electricians who had repaired this car in past may have never used VCDS software after changing critical electoral parts. There is NO engine light issue Car is fabia mk2 ( Monte Carlo 13 plate) drives fine and smooth.

My main concern is about two issues- CAN gateway and AirBag faults ,CAR steering looks brand new with Air Bag so dont suspect any issue there beacuse there is no engine light or any other dashboard light , looked like Control module have not been coded as per error may be after replacing air bag or ABS system.

I have licensed VCDS. just ran basic scan on car and found these issue , I will run deep test scan once I get fixed door actuator, so just curious if all below issues are resolvable with VCDS assuming there is NO physical car part issue , I have gut feeling that these error code may have already resolved but not cleared from memory by using VCDS or any VG related diagnostic tool. I need to make important decision about car any early input be highly appreciated. I am also bothering @Breezy_Pete as well on this matter.

Any help would be highly appreciated

Thanks you so much .

Kind Regards

raky

VCDS experts shared below info :

01044 - Control Module Incorrectly Coded

That is the end result of:

15-Airbags -- Status: Not registered

Someone removed Airbags from the installation list and it was likely in
an attempt to mask the Seatbelt and Side Airbag problems.  You can add
it back into the GVL by connecting to address 19-CAN Gateway and using
this function in VCDS:

A Mod might be along to move to the Mk2 section. Is the car a TSI or TDI?

Edited by Evolution13

I suspect that the car was crashed and the airbag deployed, however the fault 01044 in the gateway is because there is an error in the installation list (is a list where you select the oprional according to the car equipment), for example in the video you can see the gateway installation list.

The problem is that if the airbag really deployed (according to the fault it could be) is that to allign the new airbag module you will need odis to code it and pair it to all the car module involved

Appreciate @Jack25 will try soon.

You're welcome!

It’s a different and less sophisticated platform you can see the p/n 6Q0 is the one for like polo 9n3 and similar the more advanced network in the pq25 platform doesn’t allow a pairing like that

Interesting ??? Some connector can make such big mess which is very possible because of novince apprentice electrical /mechanics does not know how to unplug it properly.

Much appreciate @Breezy_Pete and @Jack25 for offering guidance and support , the matter is resolved looks like unwanted modules configuration were added accidentally or intentionally /some were missed out as well and car ECU complains about them, corrected the ecu configuration , and CANBUS is happy error disappeared.

AIR bag issue is confirmed and still work in progress .

Thanks

Kind regards
