Strange sound when turning right

Featured Replies

Hello everyone, first time posting here. I wanted to ask about a strange noise coming from my car when turning right. I only really noticed it getting worse after a 600-mile road trip.

At first, I suspected it could be the power steering pump, but I’m also wondering if it could be related to the power steering fluid. The car is relatively low mileage (under 50k), but I doubt the power steering fluid has ever been changed or topped up.

Would anyone be able to listen to the sound and give some advice on what it might be? Thanks in advance.

Sorry cant hear sound. Can you describe it or make a louder recording. I would assume if it was power steering fluid it would do it turning left as well plus does it do it while stationary?

Hi, Sorry about that. I'll make another video shortly. And yes only whilst stationary. And only the right side. Spoken to a few other people they said it could be "suspension usually comes from dry or worn-out lower arm bushes, worn strut top mounts, or the anti-roll bar bushes"

If it does it stationary that rules out drive shafts/cv joints. It may be the top mount that is failing. Get someone to listen to the top mount while turning wheel.

driveshaft / cv joints do sound when you start driving at very low speed and turning (I've replacede some driveshaft in my fabia), stationary could be a worn top mount bearing
