Which Front Shock Absorbers are correct for Skoda 1Z5 1.6Tdi with RoughRoad Design 2UB ?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Can anyone inform me what should be the correct Front Shock Absorbers to Maintain the spec of Rough road (2UB) on a Skoda Octavia Combi II (1Z5) ?

Original Shocks Code: 1K0 412 021 KP

I Believe current codes should be : 1K0 413 031 EJ or 1K0 413 031 BL (can anyone confirm ?)

Im considering Bilstein but it's hard to find the correct part number for Rough Road.

If anyone knows the part numbers of SACHS or KYB also please inform.

Diameter of shocks housing = 50 mm

Best Regards.

Look for another sticker, lower down on original shocks. This isn't the part number you're looking for, there will be a sticker with a number ending 413 031 xx which will give you the correct suffix.

I Believe them to be, but would like to confirm : 1K0 413 031 EJ or 1K0 413 031 BL

Need VIN to look up properly, if you won't look for the sticker. I'll message you so you can tell me the VIN privately.

Confirming 1K0 413 031 BL (dropped in Oct 2023) superseded by 1K0 413 031 EJ.

Can you tell me a Bilstein or KYB Compatible part number ?

IBelieve KYB will be 334 834 but Bilstein is very hard to be sure.

Sorry, I don't have any such capability. @Carlston may be the man to help with this.

I believe KYB will be 334834 but Bilstein is very hard to be sure.

Bilstein B4 22-183712 and Bilstein B6 35-250852 front shock absorbers are both sold to replace OEM part number 1K0413031BL. These are both listed against fifteen different OEM part numbers.

KYB 334834 is listed against fifty eight different OEM part numbers, so they might not be a close match to 1K0413031BL.

As well as the Octavia MK2 with increased ride height, 1K0413031BL front shock absorbers are also used on the Yeti.

KYB 334834 is listed against fifty eight different OEM part numbers, so might not be a close match to 1K0413031BL. It's listed against increased ride height, standard ride height, and lowered ride height front shock absorbers...so KYB are using a one size fits all approach.

As well as the Octavia MK2 with increased ride height, 1K0413031BL front shock absorbers are also used on the Yeti.

Well on Auto-doc says that reference of bilstein is not appropriate for my vehicle, so I Will dig a bit further to understand why.

For the time being the best match I can find is the SACHS 560 287.

This One has all the config that seems to BE right ( 2UB G02) 1K0 413 031 BL.

Seems more a match than KYB , for the reasons you mentioned. This has Higher extension.

Thanks for all the info so far .

Trusting what ECP, Autodoc etc. suggest for compatibility is often a bad idea.

Bilstein B4 22-183712 and Bilstein B6 35-250852 are correct because they are listed against the 1K0413031BL OEM part number.

The Yeti also uses the 1K0413031BL OEM part number on some models, and the Octavia MK2 with increased ride height is using Yeti suspension...hence when the Bilstein listings list the Yeti, that is actually reassuring.

When looking for suitable aftermarket shock absorbers it's best to use the OEM part number to decide if it will fit rather than descriptions such as what vehicle it fits...because those descriptions are often incomplete and/or misleading.

The listing for Sachs 560 287 front shock absorbers lists thirty two OEM part numbers, at least one of which is a lowered ride height front shock absorber (1K0413031BJ). Therefore, it looks like either of the above mentioned Bilsteins would be a better match.
