Tool kit foam insert

Featured Replies

Bit of a long shot here.

I have very recently bought a 66 plate Superb estate, which came with a steel 16" spare in the boot. It also came with the foam insert and tool kit for the 18" wheel, which obviously doesn't work. Does anyone have the foam insert from an old 16" sat around that they would be prepared to sell? The garage I bought from were not the most helpful, and I don't think that is likely to change any time soon.

Cheers in advance.

My car came with no spare and I bought a spare wheel from eBay. Sometimes the foam inserts come up for sale with toolkit but they’re quite expensive for what they are. I ended up making up my own tool kit and storing it in the side pocket. Emergency kit and some other bits and pieces stored in the spare wheel and a rubber boot liner which helps to firm up the floor over the wheel.

Thanks for the suggestions! The issue is I have the tool kit, it's just in the wrong size foam insert! I don't want to rebuy the whole kit, if it is possible to source the 16 inch insert from somewhere.

Have a look on eBay as there’s some. If not https://www.skoda-parts.com

Will have something new but not necessarily cheap!

Hi,

When you say foam insert, do you mean something like this?

or something like that?

I've tested the second one. No pressure loss over 13000km. I sold the car with this solution still on one of the tyres.

If you already have a 12V air compressor, I think it's a much more relevant solution. No worry about the foam quantity whatever the tyre size, no awful "glue" on the rim, that tyre repair operator really dislike.

Thanks Bap, but it was what Binx posted that I am after.

Cheers for the link to skoda-parts Binx - I have found the right one for about 30 euros. Not too bad, and it will stop the tools rattling around in the boot!

@ironduke87 Oooh, sorry, I got it totally wrong. I'm not a native english speaker...

But when I read it now, I can't understand how I missed it... 😁

@ironduke87 just wondering where abouts you are (I’m in the Midlands) and if you still had the 18” insert??

That you are not native English speaker is not the problem, you do write well ... heck, your tutorial for the Haldex is great - so do not worry 😉

The BIG problem is that you are a traitor and have abandoned us as a Superb owner, so every time you come lurking again here, you lose a bit of connection with our reality, hence you are mixing up the words 😄😜🤗

Rather than a traitor, I'd say 'double agent' 🥷 sounds more suitable... I share some informations from Kodiaq Mk1 forum with Superb Mk3 forum and revertedly

😁

Uhm ... since "we" were first, then "wishtleblower" more adequate 😁

Sorry for deviating the topic 😄
