leaking from slavecylinder pipeconnection

Featured Replies

Hi all.

Ok where to start.

I have a 05 Octavia 1.6, I have just changed the complete clutch unit (Incl Dual Mass Flywheel) today, and replaced the Slave Cylinder with a new one, fitted everything back together and started to bleed the slave cylinder, I noticed that it started to leak from the pipe connection fitting that fits into the slave cylinder, now every time I press the clutch pedal (to bleed the clutch), fluid leaks from this joint. I have also changed the oring and the hood on top, but there is still som drops coming out. Anyone know something i dont?

I have done a forums search, but can not find anything relating to the connection pipe leaking.

Thanks in advance.

Did the new one come with a new rubber seal. On mine I got a seal kit and it came with two types. An O ring and a top hat seal. I used the top hat seal and didnt need the oring. Think it may be a generic kit that covers different slaves/master

Another thing would be that its maybe not pushed far enough in and the spring clip is not holding it firmly.

Cant find the link I watched re replacing seal but the top hat seal has to be pushed hard onto plastic till it clicks in place. You do not use the o ring.

How can I thank you enough. It actually worked haha. Weird you get an oring when you actually don’t need it.

Thank you!

Made the same mistake myself years ago and it was on the master which was impossible to get to. Found a youtube vid on how to do it. Reckon as said its a generic kit. Must be some designed out there that uses an o ring. In your defence and mine it does look like there should be an o ring fitted as there is a groove. Glad it worked

My heart just skip the beat. What 2005 1.6 engine has that "improvement"? TSI yes?

Sorry, you are correct. I’m not 100% on the linguistics here.

I meant does your 1.6 engine have dual mass flywheel? 😨 My other 1.6 petrol car has dual mass flywheel. Maybe 1.6 BSE has aswell? 😱
