First of all, I'd like to say that I'm fascinated by this forum. I love and admire the Skoda community here and I dare say you did contribute a little to making up my mind about purchasing a Skoda Yeti.

I have owned it for 2 weeks now and I can hardly think of anything that I don't like about it.

 

However, 5 days ago I started to hear a faint rustling sound coming from the clutch pedal when depressed/released. It sounds as though I have a sticky shoe sole which makes a sound when lifted off the pedal, or the clutch has some nylon wrap attached to it. The pedal does make the sound both when the car is moving and stopped.

I do not remember doing anything extraordinary other than the mundane urban driving before the sound appeared. I have not taken the Yeti off-road throughout this period as well.

 

I searched the forum exhaustively, and found just several relevant topics on clutches making strange clicking noises. I cannot really describe the sound from mine as clicking, it's more like a rustle.

I did book a service inspection for next week but I think I am making too big of a deal from that and some intervention could make things worse, when there could be no problem at all.

I am in no way an expert, but I don't think this could be a failed clutch master/slave cylinder as it turned out in the topics I found.

 

I honestly don't know if I am being too meticulous about my car or should be really concerned about this sound.

In any way, I'd be really interested to know if any of you have experienced a similar issue and if so, what course of action you took to resolve it.

Pedal return spring?

This could very much be the problem. But if it indeed is the pedal return spring, do I need to have it replaced asap or is it more of a cosmetic issue?

Also, isn't it a little strange that it gets creaky after only 9 days of usage and 350km on the clock?

You have owned it for two weeks. There's something that is concerning you. If you bought it from a dealer rather than a private sale it's perfectly reasonable that you go back to the dealer and ask that he look into it for you - it's probably something very simple but if it isn't then the sooner you raise it the better. Once you have taken it in you can stop worrying about it - and that's the view of someone who is neurotic about strange noises in cars (a repetitive clicking is a wheel about to fall off rather than a stone in the tread etc.) so you have my sympathy!!

Haha, thank you very much for appreciating my anxiety. I am indeed a security freak and every single irregularity drives me crazy Yes, I have bought the car from a dealer and will actually take your advice and carry out the service inspection. I'd better have it checked rather than bite my nails every time I hear this noise Thanks again for encouraging me.

Next week, I will post further info about the problem together with the solution in case anyone else runs into this issue and needs some assistance.

Good luck chuchko. Earlier this year I drove from North Wales to Nos Kaliakra and back. No squeaky pedals! So get it sorted.

I had a similar problem when mine was brand new, I cured it by spraying a little wd40 behind the peddle in the footwell on the metal lever area, had to do it on two occasions but had no problem in over a year.
