We hadn't used our Karoq much before we wnt on holiday on 22nd June. On the way to Folkestone (or maybe the day before) we had a message about a software update, which I accepted. I rarely use the ACC as I don't like the way it manages speed, and since just after we got it, I managed to switch off the ACC, and just use it as cruise control. What I could do was to pull the switch at a speed I wanted to maintain and it would continue at that speed unless there were vehicles ahead. However, when I do this now, the car sets the CC to the speed limit and even if the setting is reduce, the next time the car reads a speed limit sign it resets to the new limit. Even when travelling down a dual carriageway, the car reacts to spped limits on slip roads, and in one case travelling on an Austrian autobahn, thought we were on a slip road and jammed on the brakes when it thought that there was a 60kph limit on it.

So I have gone from a situation where we had usable CC to where we have unusable ACC. I have tried to switch back to CC like I did when the car was new but I can't do it. So has anyone else had this happen after a software update? And have you managed to reset to ordinary CC? As I sidenote, in the 23 days we were away and using the car, we had a software update almost every day, sometimes more than once a day. I always accepted, but it didn't stop happening. Anyone else have this? I did wonder whether it wouldn't update because we were abroad.

Interestingly I too dislike the way ACC works and have asked in the past if normal CC could be selected and was told no. I'd be delighted if it was possible on my Karoq purchased new in March this year.

Not sure I fully understand exactly what it is about ACC that you don't like so not sure if this will help

It does say "additional menu" so maybe adjusting the distance to the car in front might overcome the issue for you.

My MY22 Karoq doesn't have ACC so can't comment on how it works.

I've had the software update message as well more or less everyday for the past month or so. I select update now but it doesn't seem to do anything. The message just comes back the following day. The software on Skodas doesn't seem to work very well at all.

I've also been having weekly updates, but assumed they were to do with the 'shop' pages as nothing else seems to have changed on my Karoq. From your description of the speed-limit related problems, I wonder if it's reset the way it treats speed limit signs? In the menu system, I've always had mine to display the current speed limit, but not take any further action. Now and again it flags up a wrong limit as it passes a junction, or where the sign is covered by bushes, but it doesn't change the speed of my car. (I seldom use the cruise control as I prefer to use the speed limiter function and just step the chosen speed up or down manually.)

I did have that but in the last 2 months it has disapperaed.

I do not like the fact that when set it automatically sets to the posted speed limit. I do not like the fact that when it sees a new limit sign, despite me setting it lower i resets to the signed limit. I do not like the fact that it sees limit signs on slip roads and tends to vigorously apply brakes. I do not like the poor comfort when it charges at bends, then jams on the brakes and still goes round at an uncomfortable speed.

That would absolutely get on my mammaries

On my 2023 Octavia, you can disconnect the link between the ACC and the traffic sign recognition, so I presume you can too.

The setting is called "speed limit preview" or something similar.

It drove me nuts too until I found how to avoid the ACC target speed changing automatically.

Thanks for that. I have found the setting in the driver aids section and unchecked them. I will try it out tomorrow when I go to get my new windscreen fitted.
