Advanced Road Sign Display?

Featured Replies

There is an on/off setting for this in Vehicle Setting > Instrument Cluster, but it doesn't seem to do anything on my year old car. So does anyone know what it's supposed to do?

I still have doubts that TSR is working at all in my car. As a supplementary question, is there a difference in behaviour between when TSR sees a speed limit sign as opposed to the change in limit being detected by GPS map data? Scenario would be comparing a clearly visible clean sign to one broken or covered in algae & buried in a hedge.

My car seems to have two ways to detect speed limit signs, either via the map data or via the camera. If it misinterprets a road sign (such as one relating to another road at a junction) then this will override the map data. The camera also fails to see road signs covered by overgrown trees and bushes, or on overhead gantries, or when the sign is not the standard round shape. (I have set the car to only display the current road sign and not change my speed because of these failures... more modern cars may have problems doing this!)

Occasionally the map data is also incorrect, and the speed limit is displayed in km/hour rather than miles/hour! There was one particular stretch of dual carriageway where the car would display an 80 sign rather than the correct 50!

@CJJE

Do you see any difference in behaviour for camera vs maps?

You can submit changes to incorrect data here.

On my Octavia I couldn't see any difference between a speed limit that had been picked up by the camera and one that came from the map data.

On my Honda Jazz I get different displays for the two sources and it's illuminating comparing the two. The one from the camera goes blank about a mile after the last sign it spotted.

I think next step is to tape over the camera & see if I can detect any difference then.

No. The display stays the same, and I have stopped the car trying to change its speed for me regardless of where it has detected the speed limit.

I like the way the ACC slows me down into a lower limit - not so keen on the way it rapidly aims for national speed limit the moment I come out of a restricted zone - I'd appreciate a facility to set a max speed rather than having to manually intervene every time.....?

For what it's worth I taped over the camera today & the only difference was Lane Assist not working. So no further forward. Interestingly there was no error reported like when the camera is obscured by ice.

Skoda online continue to be pretty useless. They've vaguely suggested that the map data provider might have found an issue with map data, that might be resolved in a future update. But bizarrely they seem to be unable to provide an explanation of what the Advanced Road Sign Display setting is & even more bizarrely, are suggesting they're waiting for the map provider to tell them!
