Power steering issue

Featured Replies

Hey up i was wodering if people would help me and point me in the right direction for what the issiue is. The power steering light has came on and the pump is grinding when i turn the car on and the steering is heavy like the car isnt turned on. There is no leaking. Also the lights recently started dipping when I steer.

Thanks

Think its electric hydraulic steering. Check the level and condition of steering fluid. If the lights are dimming it may be a fault in the electric pump or perhaps corrosion in connectors or an airlock. From memory to bleed top up with correct fluid and leave cap off and turn full left/full right till bubbles stop.

I got it diagnosed the other day and the verdict is that the pump has failed so I need to get a new pump. Any idea how big of a job it is to do it yourself?

No only suspension work

Read on here that you remove wheel and plastic wheel arch for access to hydraulic connections/pump. They also removed fog light to access electric connections as they point forward. On my sons theres no front fog lights fitted so I assume if none the bumper may have to come off unless its accessible from under car.
