constant smoke in vRS

Featured Replies

i know diesels are supposed to kick smoke out but it seems pretty costant in mine, every time i seem to acelerate even at a steady pace there seem to be smoke coming out, but theres a bit when i really thrash it

Normal. More so in hot weather. Dont worry about it

cheers guys, much appreciated, i was really stressing then aswell

Absolutely nothing to worry about. If you ever follow one of the Audi's with the same 1.9PD engine look out for the smoke, there's loads of it! As long as your car is using up too much oil you'll be ok.

On my remapped pd100 there is hardly any smoke even on max acceleration but i guess it's the turbo that's making so much difference.

Temperature high = more smoke generally

Low revs (off-boost) followed by accelerating = some smoke, lots of it if you nail it, more so if it's remapped

Fuel - some are more smokey then others in my experience, however it must be pointed out there seems to be a large variation in personal experiences of several drivers here and on other sites as to which fuels smoke least/perform best etc etc. Generalising badly here but most supermarket dervs appear to smoke a little more than say a BP Ultimate type fuel.

Another thing that may make it more noticable is the way the exhaust is pointing. If it's 'straight out to the back' it looks worse then if the soot is blasted at the road first (bent down exhaust bit).

look at it as an asset - if u want to p1ss someone off behind you, u can floor it.

Bear in mind that the Fabia VRS exhaust spews smoke straight out of the car horizontally and looks much worse than a car that has a vertical exhaust spewing smoke directly onto the roads.

it's a strange thing to do really with the VRS exhaust as all diesels have vertical ends to the exhausts
