Dashcams on Elroq

Featured Replies

Wondered if anyone could recommend a discrete dash cam for an elroq.

But nervous because the 5V charger is in the boot and seemed complicated to install?

Welcome to the forum.

Isn't there a USB-C socket mounted on the rear-view mirror?

I wish there was, I still got mine to fit

Hi HaleImp,

I had a nextbase 522GW inc a rear camera supplied and fitted by the skoda dealer I purchased the car from. They did an excellent job and it was hard wired into the fuse panel. It comes on and goes off with the 'ignition' ie when you put your foot on the brake after getting in and switches off when leaving.

Hope that helps.

For the rear-facing camera, did you get the one which plugs directly into the side of the dashcam, or the one which is stuck to the tailgate window with a cable run to the main dashcam? If you got the one which is stuck to the tailgate window, did they do a tidy job with the cable, or is there a big cable loop hanging down between the tailgate and the roof liner?

Hi Mark-Surrey,

I had the one that sticks to the rear window. Yes they did do a tidy job. The camera was positioned in the top centre of the window just below the reach of the rear wiper sweep. There is a little loop from the camera into the roof lining.

Hope that helps

If you have a Nextbase dashcam you can get an OBD to Dashcam cable for between £19-25, this is for:

Nextbase Series 2 models including the 122, 222, 222G, 222X, 222XR, 322GW, 422GW, 522GW, and 622GW (as well as legacy Series 1 and other listed variants like the 320XR, 380GW, and DuoHD) either direct from Nextbase or Amazon.

If you have other cameras you can get similar cables from AliExpress & Temu for less than £10, you may want to add a OBD splitter adaptor if you do a lot of OBD port work.

I found this on the internet. Looks like it could be quite an elegant solution to the problem of the big cable loop dangling between the roof liner and the rear tailgate. It’s a magnetic mount for the Nextbase rear camera which clips directly onto the edge of the roofliner, so you don’t need to stick the camera to the tailgate at all. I guess the only downside is that there’s more chance of catching it while loading bulky objects into the boot.
