Leaking coolant - Superb 2.0 Tsi 4x4 2019

Featured Replies

Coolant level has been falling since the summer. It seems to be mainly happening after drives, although it did also drop a little when it wasn't driven for five weeks. Ive been topping up with G13 coolant as needed, but it's just putting off the inevitable imvestigation. No obvious leaks in the hoses. Really hoping it's not the water pump. Before i take it to the garage, what could i check myself?

TIA

Most obvious is to check for signs of coolant on the block or general area below the vehicle when parked.

Most likely failure is unfortunately the water pump already mentioned.

Expansion caps have been known to fail and leak as well.

Thanks. If it's the pump, would coolant still leak when the car is not being driven.

Yes. Good look around for damp or signs of coolant should give away the general location and point towards a failure area.

Speculating only puts the price up in your head before the faults even found.

Mines randomly leaking from the second radiator, doesn’t do it all the time but keeping an eye on itIMG_2222.jpeg

The way I traced it was literally jacking it up and removing the under tray and look around with a decent torch.

I believe if the water pump is suspected it’s probably best to remove the wheel arch liner and you’ll see if it’s leaking
