how fast is your broadband??

Featured Replies

i just wondered how fast everybodys broadband connection was??

mine is 576 down/288 up Kbps (if it works at all that is!) but to be fair i do live quite a long way from the nearest exchange.

I'm on the fastest that available here atm...

3456 Kbps down

448 Kbps up

According to the ISP's site this is only available up to 3.5Km from the exchange... but i'm 4km and it works fine...

Fook me, that's bleedin' brilliant!!.

Heh.. no download limits either... good thing really as there is only the one broadband provider in the area...

i think i'm about 7.5km away from the exchange, the software for my router says that the attenuation on my line is 68db, my mate that works for bt says that i'm lucky because the maximum is 72

Just on by the skin of ya teeth there then :)

According to my router my downstream line attenuation is 56

my downstream is 28 according to my router, means sod all to me though

we are on 2mb at the moment waiting for our exchange to be upgraded so we can get upgraded to upto 8Mb :)

Just 1 meg at the moment in this rural backwater part of Devon. Fast enough for me though. :)

Mines:

down 1.6mbps

up 242kbps

it works and thats all that matters!

speedtest.jpg

Im happy with that.

1875kbps

236kbps

sounds a bit slow considering im paying for 8meg broadband!!

470 down and 209 up, not bad for 512k broadband really.

Tiscali - 1MB Line

974kps Download

238kps Upload

Just tested mine... ntl - 4mb

Downstream 3,764.9 Kbps ( = 3.7 Mbps )

Upstream 314.8 Kbps ( = 0.3 Mbps )

could be affected by the fact that there's another PC sharing the connection at the mo using emule ;)

Heres ours.

Downstream 3,714.5 Kbps ( = 3.6 Mbps )

Upstream 368.3 Kbps ( = 0.4 Mbps )

Broadband here is a bit behind the UK.

You can get up to 3.5Mb but with 10Gb a month limit, so I'm on 256k down, 128k up with a 40Gb a month limit.

IP phone works so it's good enough

2 meg service:

Downstream = 737k :mad:

Upstream = 202k

AND we are less than 1000 metres from the ruddy exchange.

Thats why we are off to Sky broadband as and when available

Downstream 1740.6 Kbps (=1.7Mbps)

Upstream 362.1 Kbps (=0.3Mbps)

Up-to-8 meg broadband with my other two machines hammering the link with eMule clients ;) Not too bad!

BT Internet

you might only be 1k from the exchange but the cables might not take a direct route to you, like where i live.

Depending on which tool I use

Downstream 7,007.6 Kbps ( = 6.8 Mbps )

Upstream 481.9 Kbps ( = 0.5 Mbps )

or 3406 kbps downstream

& 464 kbps upstream

I kind of pay for 10meg which I never entirely see apart from in the networking bit of task manager, 10% or 100meg.

Speed Test Results

Downstream 8,365.4 Kbps ( = 8.2 Mbps )

Upstream 475.6 Kbps ( = 0.5 Mbps )

thats me with ntl 10 meg

the thing that annoys me is that it's the same price regardless of how fast it is. i get a measly 500k if i'm lucky, on a good day, with the wind in the right direction, if it works at all!!!! but everybody else enjoys superfast, allways working, error free goodness for the same price. in fact f**king heck, i'm gonna tell bt total broadband (who's helpdesk incidently is probably run from a restaurant in kasakstan) to stuff it up their............. hang on!! it's working again. i'm gonna boycot the payment. or i could tell them i'll give them payment over the internet. oh yes! i cant, it dosn't work!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and to add insult to injury the usb port on the router dosn't work either.
