Featured Replies

Upload Much better at work.

1.5meg Worldcom line.

1833kbps down, and

1814kbps up.

Much better at work here too :D

Downstream 31,740.0 Kbps

Upstream 13,500.1 Kbps

Just a shame that this part of the network is shared between about 40 people - will have to rerun the test when I'm the only one in

Chris

I'm on the fastest that available here atm...

3456 Kbps down

448 Kbps up

According to the ISP's site this is only available up to 3.5Km from the exchange... but i'm 4km and it works fine...

that's amazing!!!! lol:eek:

im only on 1403 down

159 up lol

mine:

Downstream 3,837.8 Kbps ( = 3.7 Mbps )

Upstream 359.0 Kbps ( = 0.4 Mbps )

NTL Cable 4Mb

3814kpbs download

368kbps upload

Down = 1872

Up = 236

According to the Ookla link that Makefish posted, mines 6166 and 529. It is 11pm on a Sunday evening though, so will see what it is on Monday morning...

Not bad.. but then i suppose that depends on what your ISP is claiming u should have?

I pay for 2 Meg, though ISP did upgrade to 8 meg recently (whether that applied to me or not, I've no idea, but I'm not paying any more). That said, I was told by BT about a year ago that I'd be lucky to get anything more than 1 meg given my distance from the centre, traffic usage etc etc so who knows what's going on LOL.

My last test on Ookla said 3984 and 526. TBH I'm not sure I'd notice the difference with not gaming. Downloading difference hasn't been noticeable, nor quantifiable to me, assuming only a minute or two's difference is likely anyway. I know nothing, but that's never worried me before :D

They do say.. Ignorance is bliss :)

Mine's 1856 kbps down, 217 kbps up - still waiting for the LLU so that Plus.net can give me the 8Mb they've been promising for months.

Mo - Plus.net started off doing the automatic upgrades to 8Mbit and then discovered that lots of users were hitting teething troubles. Then then made the 8Mbit take up an opt in affair (I opted in :D). Judging by your speeds, it sounds like you are on the up-to-8Mbit like me :D

Chris

The only broadband ISP here has just started making noises about offering an 8meg service... seems it's still a few months away though...

Quite right! I have no intention of getting miffed about things when basically it's OK. (Edit: including connection reliability)

'Tis true that there is a very great difference between dial-up and broadband, but beyond that, milli-fractions of seconds (whatever) are water off a duck's back to me for typical usage

*carries on in own sweet way*

BT 2mb line in Manchester using London Server:

1858kbs down, 241kbs up . . . not great but I'm reasonably happy with it. Line is upgrading to 8mb soon. :D

1698/307 kbps for me.

Just waiting for more competetion on the internet front.

Electric companies are currently putting down optical cable, and the main internet/phone company in Denmark has just introduced 20mbit down and 1,5mbit up ADSL2....but a little pricey at around 90 pounds.

Downstream 9,168.7 Kbps ( = 9.0 Mbps )

Upstream 479.4 Kbps ( = 0.5 Mbps )

Here's my results from my Tiscali 1mb line, to various servers.

8/9/2006 0:56:48 AM PST 989 kbps 238 kbps 101 ms New York, NY

8/9/2006 0:55:35 AM PST 985 kbps 235 kbps 182 ms San Francisco,

8/9/2006 0:54:58 AM PST 994 kbps 241 kbps 67 ms London, UK

Not bad for deepest rural Devon ;)

Although I can only get 1 mb it rarely drops below these figures as there are only about 250 phone lines into my local exchange.
