Should variable service trigger after 2 yrs?

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a 2004 Octy 1.8T which I bought last Sept with 8000 miles on it.

It has now done 15000 and still hasn't asked for a service.

I think the build date was Feb 04 and first registration date was July 04, so I have been expecting the service indicator to trigger, purely on the fact it must be about 2 years since it first hit the road...?

I plan to get it serviced soon anyway, but shouldn't I have seen the car ask for a service by now?

Thanks,

Ben

No-one got any comments on this then?

My octavia went 20months before it told me it required a servic. I beleive it depends on how it's driven i.e.start ups, shot journeys, throttle openings etc. My local dealer told me that it shouldn't go more that two years though! Maybe worth checking with your dealer. Mine's a 130TDI by the way.

Ste

Mine didn't trigger until 21k....variable servicing should be done every 20k or 2 years...which ever is sooner.

Just called garage I bought it from and they checked records - they said it should have asked for a service (based on time) in February! So, all booked in now - quote is 240 for 1st variable service and 50 for brake fluid. Sounds fair to me.
