Evo 9 - any thoughts?

Featured Replies

Take it for a long drive and if you like it buy it

Don't let anyone put you off if you really want one, which I think you do.

I looked at (and very nearly bought) one with my car allowance but as previously mentioned above the ride is very hard - so much so that if you're a high mileage motorist then you'll keep it less than a year, guaranteed.

Other than the ride (and the interior is defo not a VAG one  ) they seem like a very good car.

nobody's mentioned the turning circle yet! you need a football pitch to turn it around in, but hey, I know that isn't gonna bother you!

WHAT? That's what the handbrake is for ;)

I love the Evo but could never justify the running costs  Also worth considering the Scooby Type-25 from Litchfield Imports too :D

Chris

Indeed, it'll be much better put together and made out of far higher quality materials!

LOL if only!

Buy it!

Then let me drive it

The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX is a fantastic driving experience - supercar performance from a 30K price tag. Apart from the running costs you will need to be prepared for:

1) Spine shattering suspension and ride

2) Excessively tiresome road and wheel noise at motorway speeds

3) A less practical and appealing cockpit area

4) Having your bowels removed each time you push down on the accelerator

If you can live with that it will be a fantastic car for you.

1)Suspension is something that put me off the car, just couldnt live with that every day.

2)Noise isnt that bad - remmeber Dave is used to a Fabia and Octavia with lound exhausts.

3)I think the cabin is quite nice actually

4)Isnt that the whole point ??

Go for it, Shifty ! have you considered a nearly new VIII ? You could get a more powerful version with warranty

4) Having your bowels removed each time you push down on the accelerator

And when you push down on the brake pedal!

I might just be done with it, and get the ultimate point to point car.

A Fabia 2.0 elegance :D

Remember to budget for a set of Falkens too :D

Chris

Don't be such a poof Dave, just go buy a Caterham or a Westie.

They are quicker than the Evo and cost less to run. They will also scare you much more :D

Of course.

Anyway, a mate of mine has found me a deal at a dealers a few miles away, so i'll be off for a nosey later in the week.

Also, I need to test drive a new Subaru to make sure i'm not missing something.

makes perfect sense...lucky bastid...

Take a Caterfield out for a drive, preferably a bike engined one. It will make you grin very very hard!

Buy this CLICKY

Then keep the furball as a daily driver m8 .......

easy to look after the busa engines as well as being bulletproof

And if you are on the insane side of mad you can turbo them :D

I took one out for a couple of hours - YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! :D My jaw was aching when I got back, I had been grinning so much  You know how go-karts feel really fast because you are so low? Well this is only marginally higher than a kart, but with about 500bhp/ton :D

And if you are on the insane side of mad you can turbo them :D

Yup, the now retired Ghost Rider has a Turbo'd 'busa running 500 rwhp. Mad as a pair of trousers in a bike ...... quite appropriate for a car I would say though :-)

To break the world wheelie record he got the motor to pump out 702bhp ..... monster :D

Dave mate, you are a nutter! When AJ read us that text out at USC I just rolled my eyes! You're so indecisive and random I don't know whether I'm coming or going when I talk to you! haha! I get the feeling these trips to Germany and Prague are gonna cost me even more now with the fuel bill! Just remember, if you get it make sure you insure it with somone who'll let me on the insurance for the trips!!

P.S evo 9's are porn!! I saw a blue one in Lytham once, think I nearly walked into a lamp post!

I was going to buy a monaro but the fuel bill would have killed me so i chose the octy mk2 but if you get a chance dave take a test drive :D .

i thought 4wd was for people who couldn't drive? ;)

LOL, I remember that post from a disgruntled dave a while back ;) ;) ;):D :D :D

If I had an evo I would consider upgrading my home security as well...they can only steal these cars in one way..and thats by taking the keys

and these cars are VERY desirable......

Not just evo's

One of the guys at my dealer told me they had a customer lose his mk2 octy vRS, some scrotes followed one to a set of lights, nudged his rear bumper, owner got out apparantly not happy, whilst discussing with scrote A, scrote B jumped in, turned the key and stole the octy.........

As my old man used to say, you need more eyes than a seed 'tater these days :D

As I said earlier, on the 8 they did an inclusive 3 yr service deal which makes sense with the service interval being so short. But see where your nearest Ralliart dealer is, because a friend of mine has a 100 mile round trip just to get it looked at.
