Like Semtex in my Underpants

Featured Replies

Just had my first day with my new vRS. Big plug for freedom membership - you are able to place adverts and makes sales! (This is the actual advert for the car)

Anyhow, I am trying to come up with a full description of how much I love driving it but I am lost for words. I have just spent the last half an hour sat in it, just trying to make myself believe that it is going to be my name on the V5 document.

To the 3 vRS drivers I saw today – sorry if I dazzled you when I flashed my lights like a mad women.

I am never going to understand about what a remap actually is, never expect to have a decent conversation with me about brake pads and I when asked what tyres my cars have I expect I will always call them Yoko Onos – but I can appreciate what a cracking car it is!

I am trying to come up with something clever to say, but I can’t at the moment, other than the fact that it’s like semtex in my underpants. Which is my new favourite saying, and I might well make it a trademark.

Silver is the best.

I get that if teaching with the aircon on in really hot weather, or thrashing it good and proper down B roads, but generally do around 40 - 50mpg. Caning it or slow traffic?

Chris

PS Congratulations on the new car!

Ye! New car arrived

At least semtex isn't like nitro glycerine that has to be kept permanently still - well according to the movies anyway. So, You go girl! but stop at red lights, then can go again :)

Best

Mo

Congrats on the new car!

And silver is the best colour (for the Furby vRS anyway)

I can't believe I've done over 5000 miles in mine already (bought 3rd March)

Still smiling though :)

Is it a Brand new car? if so the mpg will improve in time...

Also it depends on how you drive it.. I can get around 50-60mpg around town.. 30mph in 5th without the AC on... and 60-70 around town at night... no traffic at all :)

so your liking the new car then. goody good.

bet your not sorry to see vlad go now then?

bet your not sorry to see vlad go now then?

Vlad has not gone anywhere yet! He is still in my drive, not sure what is going to happen but I won't scrap him.

how about using vlad as the first ever skoda-shaped flower pot? we could get the boys to come round with a big angle grinder to cut the roof off, then we put some fertilizer in, then bobs your uncle. think of vlad as the fastest growbag in the west!!!!

all i can say is be carefull with all that extra power you've got on tap now, but it is so tempting to give it a quick blast isn't it?? hopefully i will be trading the 2.0 in for a vrs in the near future.

Not a brand new car, just new to me, she is a 53 plate.

Just been on a drive late at night to be able to pracitse actaully driving the car. I am hating the cruise control, it is so strange to feel the car pick up momentum to go up a hill.

The talex system is doing my head in as well. It is like having mother hardwear wired into the dash. She shouts at me if she doesn't think I am going the right speed, fortunatly I can put her on mute - a function my mother should come with.

I am still getting poor mpg. I set the cruise to 64mpg all the way back from Newton Abbot (which is basically down hill) the trip computer was jumping from stupid figures like 180mpg to 37.3mpg and then going blank. Might take it to skoda while there is still a few weeks of warranty.

I am also having a practice with parking as I am determined not to curb any alloys!

I am going to wake up in the morning and not believe that it is my car parked in the drive!

the mpg display does do that. the amount of fuel you use is dependant on the load on the engine. so if you go down a hill or lift your foot off the loud pedal when going fast there is no load on the engine so the mpg goes up loads, when it gets over a certain level it diplays --

the other thing i couldn't get my head round was when you are stood still idling. it shows 0mpg

you can make it display average mpg as well by scrolling through the options using the switch on the end of the right hand stalk.

i found that reverse parking the fabia is a bit tricky because the vision is a little obscured. the back is very high compared to the polo.

Sounds like your looking at instant MPG, flick it over to average and it will make alot more sense as Tom has said.

Sounds like your happy though :)

the other thing i couldn't get my head round was when you are stood still idling. it shows 0mpg

It shows 0 because you are not covering any distance, but still using fuel. 0 divided by something = 0

the trip computer was jumping from stupid figures like 180mpg to 37.3mpg and then going blank

It shows blank becuase on the over run the fuel is cut off. You are still covering distance and not using any fuel. Something divided by 0 = mathematical impossibility.

The instantaneous mpg will be all over the place.

We have a used red Vrs in our showroom at the moment and they look to be a very nice car.

 Congrats Emily - Enjoy - The furby vRS smile never goes away!:D

And Silver is the coolest Fab vRS colour :) (It wasn't available at the dealers in the older model vRS's for discounted sale when I got mine:( )

Cheers:thumbup:

I woke up this morning and it was still in the drive.

It's real!

Glad you're enjoying the new car!

I've had my vRS since march and covered just over 7k miles now and i still get a big grin everytime i get into third gear and feel it pull away! :)

Enjoy!

Welcome to the club

25K miles later on I still get a kick out of mine :D

Will you be keeping it standard

Will you be keeping it standard

I think 180 bhp is enough for my limited driving ability.

Welcome to the Silver brigade!. Enjoy the car I've had Sherman for 9 months now and I suppose am still get used to it. After 12 months I used to change my car but not now I am happy with the Vrs.

I think 180 bhp is enough for my limited driving ability.

if thats the figure, it's already been severely fiddled with.

Fabia vRS is 130 stock........ the bigger Octy vRs Mk1 is 180 std...

Sorry to be a party pooper.

It shows blank becuase on the over run the fuel is cut off.

the fuel isn't shut off on the overrun, otheriwise it would just go a bit like this. (with sound and lyrics with help from mil ) here goes

taka taka taka taka taka, stop
