Cruise, metallic, and forget the rest! Wouldn't bother with Xenon (Hid's) the standard headlights are very good IMHO

ESP is also worth the #500 odd quid, it won't help you defy Physics but it will sure feel like it :)

sorry to jump in on the thread, but what does this do n hows it work?

cheers

Cheers for the replies guys & gals, will let you know what she decided on soon!!

Cruise control and Airbag deactivation for sure. If you are considering Leather then Heated seats are a nice idea.

I don't rate the sunroof and xenon's are ok but not fantastic.

Then of course there is the colour which could spark a whole new debate but as long as it's black you'll be fine.

How come you don't rate the sunroof Stu. I have one and it comes into it own on mild not hot day's (leave off the aircon).

Leather, sunroof and metallic paint. After been on this forum I should have probably gone for the Xenon's but hey ho.:)

I always seem to manage to leave it open and I don't think it's worth

I'm not sure that many people with babies (and corresponding luggage) would be considering a Fabia anyway!

Chris

um, I did and to be honest it wasn't the smartest thing I've ever done. I just didn't want a big car and I didn't realise how much boot space a little one takes up (loads btw :) ). Not having an airbag deactivation wasn't such a big deal since the car has 4 doors, what is a big deal is after going to Asda the pushchair goes in the front with me and the shopping fills the boot. Going to visit parents for the weekend means a boot full, front floor and seat full, parcel shelf full and back floor full. :thumbdwn:

Probably going to have to sell it and get an Octy.

Always wondered why people waste money on heated seats. In 26 years of driving, I've never once got into a car and thought 'blimey that's cold on my bum' - I generally am wearing trousers in the winter !!!

Xenons seem a lot of money when the standard lights are perfectly adequate. Leather looks nice, but then my cloth seats look good and are proving easy to keep sparkling clean and are not afraid yet.

I've never driven anywhere near stupidly enough in almost 10,000 miles to have warranted getting ESP - ASR is good enough for me.

Go for metallic paint and cruise control. Metallic looks great and cruise will help you keep your licence whilst regulating your speed much better than your right foot can - you'll get better mpg because of this also.

I might have gone for a sunroof if I'd thought about it a bit more - brightens up the interior and gives a good wind in the hair feeling - but aircon is fine for me.

All depends how much money you have to spend. The more toys you have the less of a bargain the car will seem. I've everything I want in a car and more for under 12 grand!

I have leather seats and heating is essential in the winter (and yes I wear trousers in the winter ;)) Can't understand why people waste money on cruise - in all the years I've been driving I've never once thought 'blimey I can't maintain a steady speed on my own' ;) Horses for courses :D

Chris

I went for heated seats because a lot of my time is spent driving to work before 06.30 in the morning. My journey is pretty quick so it's an instant warmth I get when it can be still frozen outside  Plus, it was only

heated seats make you think you've wet your self lol

.....or is that just me with bowel problems! haha

Fair enough I suppose if you have leather, but then again I have that in my P6 Rover and am more affected when I get in it in the summer and burn my legs. I've never needed it with cloth seats - the temperature of your bum and the seats is the same after a few seconds surely?

I'd much rather have a heated steering wheel for my hands or something to stop my bits from getting cold like a portable plug in testicle warmer!

Jason???

When you've driven a couple of hundred miles and your ankles are killing you,
When you've driven a couple of hundred miles and your ankles are killing you,
Ankles are killing you after a couple of hundred miles? Can't say I've ever had that problem in any car, but if you do then yes,

If I bought again I'd go for cruise & cd which I've got, and heated seats which I really want - fills two blank swithces too

Thats half the reason i got them! I hate blank switch! :o :P

I agree with Scooby Chris- I have cruise on my Golf and I wouldn't pay £1.25 to get it on my next car, nevermind £125.

It's useless for commuting to work because even though you can maintain 70 most of the time, the traffic is too busy and you are constantly having to switch it on and off to avoid going into the back of someone, and having to put your foot down so you can get past the guy in the inside lane who is doing 69.75mph while your cruise is set on 70! It also wrecks fuel consumption as it's not clever enough to stop accelerating down hills etc.

Back to the main topic, our Fabia has metallic as the only option. I wish we had ordered heated seats as diesels take so long to warm up that instant heat would be welcome (not just for your bum- it would heat through your whole body surely?).

I would also have liked xenons and CD changer.

I wouldn't spend the money on ESP as I feel that if you don't drive like a loony then you won't need it. Been driving for 10 years and spent a fair few miles driving 'spiritedly' and never once wished I had an electronic nanny. It's all about appropriate speed for the conditions.

God I sound like an old fart!

I think metallic is the only essential for good resale (chose red if you must but please god not yellow!).

I disagree that it 'wrecks fuel consumption', quite the reverse, it improves consumption because the car maintains a steady speed and the driver isn't constantly jabbing at the go pedal..

Disagree completely - the cruise is an 'all or nothing' method of maintaining speed and uses considerably more fuel than a decent driver. Perhaps it's better than someone with lead feet but IMHO most drivers would get better mpg maintaining speed manually.

That said I agree it is better in 30 limits to avoid speeding.

I've ordered mine with cruise, had it on the demo i had for a day, loved it!!

Cruise is horses for courses. Personally, I would pay more than

At least some one agrees with me!

Stu maybe your problem is you don't know how to be gentle with your right foot!:P ;)

One of the main reasons I paid for cruise on my Golf was I thought it would give me better fuel consumption. Believe me' date=' I have given it every opportunity and I can never get anywhere near my 'manual' fuel consumption figure. The main reason I think is that I constantly read the road and ease off the accelerator, meaning I rarely brake during normal driving. With cruise you don't have the ability to just feather off the throttle slightly.

I also dislike it because it can be [i']too[/i] relaxing! I tend to be tired driving home from work and if throttle control is taken away from me all I have left to do is hang on to the steering wheel- makes it really hard to stay awake!

As people say though, horses for courses. I have a feeling that if I did plenty of miles in not so busy traffic (i.e a rep who drives during the day) it would be really handy.

Stu maybe your problem is you don't know how to be gentle with your right foot!:P ;)

It has been mentioned
