Subaru Legacy Spec B

Featured Replies

It's subtle, It's fast. It has a 3 litre 6 cylinder boxer engine developing 245BHP and 219 Lb Ft torque. It has permanent 4WD and an LSD on the rear axle. 0-60 in 6.5. ( and 23MPG if you're interested), Bilstein shocks all round and mahoosive brakes.

It has all the toys as standard and rarely breaks down. It has a large boot and commodious interior space.

It would cost me

Mmm, that means its sat on the forecourt of my local dealer. Race you there in the morning! :D

Bargain.

Always been a fan. Know someone who has one. best door aaathuunk going. Solid.

ha ha ha ha!

Excellent cars. Drink fuel a bit but at 10,000 p/a who cares?

Chris

They're quite common here - unfortunately the boy racers like to put stupid loud exhausts on em (at least on the older ones).

I really like them though - very nice cars.

Top Gear seem to rate them as well

My friend has that as well, very f***ing nice...pearl white, full option model, and the instrument dials are real cool when you start up...they all light up and hit max and then come back down.

The 3 litre is an N/A car no? 6 cylinders very nice :) But I heard there's also a 2.5 litre turbocharged model (same engine in the new impreza) developing 250bhp.

My office mate just bought one. Excellent car and full loaded, although he was a bit miffed it didn't have t/c  Only thing I'd say is it needs a better exhaust so you can hear the gorgeous flat-6, but you're probably in a better position than most to sort that out! ;)

Chris

I have yet to see one of these cars driven by anything other than a stereotypical ch@vling with a token ch@vette sat beside him sporting a Romford face lift :)

Really? These cars are owned by the pipe 'n' slippers brigade! I'll get a pic of my office mate driving his ;)

Chris

Yes, please do Chris, I would like that very much. :)

Pixi - are you sure you know which one the Legacy is?

Thankyou for your concern Gooch, yes I do. I will take some pictures next time one pops up to show you the wonderful imagination of the Ch@v :)

This is the one he's got.....

... and allegedly it was a press car too ()

The 3 litre is an N/A car no? 6 cylinders very nice But I heard there's also a 2.5 litre turbocharged model (same engine in the new impreza) developing 250bhp.

And I think this engine is now available in the Forrester as well, while the japs get a twin turbo charged version of it in the lecacgy.

Been to have another look today with SWMBO. Needless to say' date=' she thought it was boring and "too Grown up" She said she wanted something "A bit whizzier". When pressed further about her ideal car she said a Hyndai Coupe.

Soooo, I'm taking the Legacy for a test drive Thursday.:D

I noticed about the instrument dials on start up, a neat touch. Inside the cabin is very well made, much better than the skud and a world away from previous generation Subaru's. The salesman was spouting about it being better built than a Beemer who he used to work for. It was a nice place to spend time like. The frameless doors are cool as well.

It's the old Devil vs Angel syndrome. Should I buy a virtually brand new car (just 7 miles ont clock!) which is probably gonna be too expensive but lots of fun and long lasting, or do I keep the skud and do DIY and **** to the hoose?

I'm gonna discuss figures with the salesman Thursday I reckon.

There is an STI pack available for the 2.0GT Spec B Legacy (twin turbo 280BHP) but it's only available in Japan.

Legacy STi

Lend it to the ch@vs and ch@vettes over here Pitts, they'll soon whizz it up for her :D

Hadaway man Pixi man! It's a very refined and subtle motor vehicle, often to be found hiding it's light under various bushels down the golf club an that don't you know old chap, what? Etc....

For the last time.......I am not a bloke

I know but you're like one of the blokes. I think it's the moustache....:D

I like the Spec B. It would be too thirsty for me though. It's good to hear that they've sorted the interior. Subaru interiors always had that 'Nissan Sunny c.1985' look about them.

That Mazda 6 turbo 4x4 that was on Tope Gear must be an another to consider.

I did come close to buying an old Legacy (single) Turbo estate a few years back (I'd wanted a twin turbo, but the insurance on an import would have been far too high). In the end I didn't because I thought it would end up costing too much in repairs and fuel, but it would have been good....

I beg to differ on the interiors though. I was a Scooby nut, I had 1 turbo, 2 x 2.2s and 2.5 Legacy estates. We looked at a spec B and it's only on an extended test drive do you see cars for what they really are. We thought although the look of the interior was better, it still creaked and rattled like the old. The Nav was not user friendly enough, and you could not see the temperature settings on the A/C in any kind of sunlight. It's things like this that would niggle me over time, hence the end of scoobydom for me. It does sound the biz though.

Is the Spec B eligible for the 3k worth of petrol offer? Might ease the pain for the first few months ;)

Chris

I think it does. Steer clear of the auto though. Robs the car of oomph
