Cheapest FMIC for Fab vRS??

Featured Replies

I'm looking around for a FMIC.

Unfortunately email doesn't seem to be yielding any answers -

As far as I can find out the two main ones are Forge and Allard motorsport.

Forge had a thread some time ago that they would give special prices to Briskoda members - no response by email asking if this is still on.:(

Allard show a price of 590 squid for theirs - no response to email asking if they offer a discount to Brisk members.:(

Jabba are in the process of coming out with one of their own - I think the extremely helpful Nick must be on holidays - no reply to an email asking if this is ready yet for actual sale.

The other thing I wanted to find out is - how much does the bl**dy thing weigh?

I was hoping to stuff it in my cargo luggage.....

Thanks for any helpful suggestions/comments/info,

and no thanks for any unsolicited witticisms......:finger:

Cheers:D

you might be able to sqeeze a tdi intercooler from a 6n2 polo 1.4tdi in there, you could probably get one from a breakers yard for a few quid.

Another option is a PD160 FMIC with custom piping. Someone over on seatcupra.net/tdiclub.com had forge do the custom piping to mate up with the ibiza pd130 piping.

Other than that its custom jobs.

yeah but for the cost of the custom tubing you can probably buy a tube bender and some tube and do it yourself for cheaper!

i was thinking along the same lines as TeflonTom , fit something from another vehicle thats got a FMIC , new Ford Focus diesel has a FMIC at a very resonable price , it may not be as big as an Allard one but it will be bigger than a standard SMIC , you've just got to sort the hoses out then , Samco do the hoses

You also having the problem of fitting the MAP sensor. But you can order somthing from the states that you weld to either 2" or 2.5" piping.

Think forge if they released the piping for the ibiza were looking at £250.

If you speak to Brian @ Star performance he has fitted the SeatSport FMIC, which is bigger than the Forge FMIC and he sorted out the pipework himself, he may be able to steer you in the right way. IIRC though if you buy the SEAT FMIC brand new you would be just as well buying the forge or allard kit for the money

what i've done in the past in regard to the maf/or map senors fitted to one of the boost pipes is to get the original pipe with the sensor in it and cut it out from the pipe leaving about 2" either side of the sensor, then it's a simple job using a couple of short hoses to join this into the custom piping.

if you do use an intercooler from another car (pajero one highly recommended) make sure it comes from a diesel engined car. somtimes the ones fitted to the petrol models can't cope with the boost pressured at which the diesel engines run unless you attach metal straps to them to stop them bulging under pressure.

Apparently the only way to get a response out of Forge and Allard is to ring them as they are totally ignorant of the fact they have an email address.

After waiting for 6 months I've basically decided it's a waste of time emailing...

FMIC is awesome, but for £5-700 it's really only cost effective if your planning big mods such as a hybrid turbo, for just a remap on the pd130, pikey mod's 1 & 2 do the job nicely and the cost is anywhere between £0-15 depending upon how neat you want the fit and finish.

You find on some vag cars fitted with just 1 intercooler the MAP sensor into the top of the intercooler.

yeah that right, like the s3 and the tt. the other not-turbocharged cars have the map sensor on the intake manifold. but on car which have a maf instead of a map sensor they are located between the airbox and the manifold. or course some cars have both!!

i was talking mainly about the diesels which have the map sensor in the boost pipe between the intercooler and the intake manifold

We do the FMIC from Forge and it is £495 + VAT

The S3/TT has 2 intercoolers;

On the PD130 its fitted to the intercooler so you would have to make sure the MAP sensor fits into the different oem pipe work as I think their are different types of MAP sensors.

Noticed a while back that awesome are the cheapest palce to get a forge FMIC.
