I was happy with the Uniroyals I had.

Be interested to know what Marangoni Zeta Linea's are like when pushed, work well on the escort but that not exactly a road rocket, look sweet aswell.

by all accounts the toyo's rainmasters, and khumo's are all good, I personally have the p nreo's on mine and find 'em the dogs danglies

I've just got some Colway Rally Plus for £37 a corner. Crap on the road but ace on mud and gravel.

P zero neros are the best I've used but saying that I'm currently running Khumos on both the furby and octy. Not as good as the p zeros in the wet but nearly as good in the dry - they're cheaper if cost is an issue.

Cost doesn't come into it. I do not scimp on tyres. I will pay for the best if needed. It's the only thing that keeps you on the road......The biggest Engine ' date=' the biggest brakes, the best steering and suspention......[b']Tyres no good ...............................nothing else any good[/b]

Definately agree with that statement

Just had some robert de nero's fitted to the fronts on the furby. They seem pretty grippy. not rained yet though so dont know what they will be like then. Happy with them so far though.

Hi

From what I have read, I got it down to three on the shortlist. T1R, P Zero Neros and KU31. The Pirellis went because they have no rim protection and I am a driving instructor, that left T1R and KU31. I had a good look at both today and the T1R has a lot less depth in the rim protection, so went for KU31. The Kumhos are also supposed to be a little quieter. I should get them on tomorrow, so should be able to give you a good objective comparison to SCIIs by the end of the week once I get a few hundred miles under them.

My parameters for choice were that good grip and dynamics were essential, tyre noise should be minimal (something the Contis are bad for) and have rim protection. I think I would have gone for the P Zero Neros if the rim protection was not an issue. Essentially, everyone that has run them is impressed by how stiff the sidewalls are, which given the weight of the lump up front is a good thing.

Of the others you shortlist, the Uniroyals are a little noisy (from what has been reported here) and the Toyos grippy but soft in the sidewall. The guy I spoke to today reckoned the Toyos to be a little grippier than the Kumhos but also poor for wear rate. Subjectively, the Toyo compound felt a fair bit softer but I did not take a durometer with me.

Will post when I know. Lastly, I did not get a price for the Uniroyals, but got

At that price they have got to be worth a look! They look a little like the GY F1's, do you know if they have a stronger sidewall than the F1's? I Like the neros for cornering but they seem to lack the grip of the F1's..... both are good tyres though at the end of the day!! Not really bothered about price really as long as they perform :D

I don't think you could go to far wrong with either the GY F1 GSD3's or the Zero Nero's as both are very good quality and perform extremely well :D

Hi Andy

If you are not in a rush, wait a few days and I will be posting my impressions of them.

Chris

Goodyear Eagle F1-GSD3s? Or have these gone out of favour? Everyone seemed to be going on about them at one point, when the question of tyre replacement cropped up.

Ibiza came with these fitted all round and I've been impressed thus far. Quiet with excellent wet and dry grip. I think they look ace as well

Will just have to see how well they wear...

Steve

I didn't say I go for cheaper options but I just mentioned the Khumos are cheaper.

If you aren't arsed on cost go for the Pirellis - like I said much better wet performance than the Khumos but they will wear out quicker as they are nice and soft. The Khumos have a slightly harder compund which lasts better but give a greater amount of understeer on wet roads.

I agree, had them on the front before the Nero's and thought they were excellent  tried the nero's this time for the reported better cornering ability.... this they have but not quite the grip of the F1's

Only tried them on an MR2 MkII turbo. Really did not suit it.
