I was just checking my msg's on here when I here a knock at the door...

I answered and the guy says.. "Is this your car mate?" puzzled i answer "yes"

He replies with, "Sorry I've just reversed into it"

As he'd been forth coming and not just driven off I kept my cool... we exchanged insurance details etc..

Oh and the guy is a taxi driver.. only damage to his Galaxy are some scratches on the rear bumper... I took photos of both cars just have to wait and see now.. fingers crossed everything goes smoothly.

at least he said something :)

Don't know if the alloy was kerbed before but i'd be going for a new alloy and tyre as well looking at the pic. Real bad luck mate but like you say he could have just buggered off. Hope it gets sorted soon and painlessly.

Bad luck Blade..........no one was hurt and at least the guy knocked on your door, that counts for alot..Hope it gets sorted...............Andy

I know how your feeling. I was gutted when I returned home one night to find a note through my door from someone who had driven into Velma, whilst trying to park.

At least they had the decency to own up

Oh the alloy was my fault.. :(

Yeah I figured as he'd owned up it was pointless shouting at him etc... and at the end of day it is just a car...

The thought of trying to blame the alloy etc on him as his insurance will be paying has crossed my mind, but he's been honest with me so the least I can do is the same.

Sorry about your car mate but in a way at least the guy stopped and gave you his details, theres not many honest people out there nowadays, hope it gets sorted out quickly

ah well... shift happens... I'm still quite shocked he stopped and owned up to it :)

 to the guy that owned up... should be nice and painless for you atleast...

I'd get that tyre changed though fella, don't look safe to me.

had a van driver reverse and shunt my old blue car out of the way once so he could park...only knew when a shop owner told me the van didnt leave a not at all:mad: its nice to know there are still honest people about. glad no one was hurt a car can be replaced:)

Bad luck, just make sure he doesn't try to claim for whiplash

At least he owned up, so theoretically you won't be out of pocket. Not good though, you must be gutted.

Last weekend, whilst at the supermarket, I witnessed a Land Rover Discovery reverse straight into an 06 plate Mazda . The Disco owner knew I'd seen him, so he pulled forward into another space. I went into the supermarket and then looked out, as soon as I was inside I saw him drive off without leaving a note :finger:. Well bad luck Mr Land Rover Discovery, registration number K96 BOL from Banbury, because I left a note on your behalf with your registration details on the Mazda's windscreen! Personally, I think this dimwits actions are inexcusable.

I do plan to get that tyre replaced in the not too distant future, and get my alloys sorted. The damage to the tyre isn't as bad as it looks once you get up close, happened on my way to Wales in early July. The rear tyre on the same side also has the same damage.

It's a good job I managed to get a 5th alloy not too long ago :)

Personally, I think this dimwits actions are inexcusable.

Also, isn't it an offence to drive away from the scene of an accident, whether someone was in the other car or not?

Good on you for getting the numberplate details.

the police won't care if no one was injured. even then if it was only a bruise or something they probably wouldn't care.

i hope you left your contact details too for witnessstatement. Good on you for doing it.

and thumbs up to the taxi driver for not driving away

I know exactly how you feel as it happened to me when i bought my first Octavia, but the main thing is no one was hurt. And you were lucky it was an honest person who accidently hit your car. Well done to that taxi driver.

Really gutted for you. I had the same think happen a few years ago and the culprit also owned up. At the end of the day I was annoyed, but very glad that he owned up. I wasn't out of pocket and even got the repair company to remove a couple more dents free of charge (if you have any other dents/scratches it may be worth trying to get them repaired on the cheap/free too).

By the look of the damage on your car it'll be very easy to repair so I wouldn't expect you to be without the car for long.

**UPDATE**

All is going according to plan so far, the other party has admitted liability, I've had their assessor round to look at the car and I went to get a quote for the repair work.

Had a call from the local VAG approved bodyshop this morning and I'm booked in for next Tuesday (10/10/06) for the work to be carried out. :D

Painless and easy. Nice one!

Nice one mate. By the way you are not insured in a carpark as it is classed as private property and your insurance is void if you bump or get bumped into by another vehicle. This is why I always park as far away as I can from the entrance.

I would try and claim the Alloy if you can mate..... might as well make the best of the event you can :D

I am amazed he owned up, i would have probally been less decent if crunch comes to crunch (No Pun intended) though I would like to think I would do the decent thing, but we all do things that are not in our character now and then... I will say in a way you are lucky to have been hit by someone decent, unlike the Jerk who dented my old Felly.

I hope it is sorted swiftly and all things turn out great for you soon :D

SERIOUSLY? Wow, I never knew. I suppose it makes sense, private property an all like. I think I will follow suit with parking far away from everyone else if needs be, but Im a disabled driver so I get an oversized bay all to my self
