Most of us know Lummox's credentials but over the last 12 months there have been a few new members who appear to have some experience as professional mechanics.

I wonder if you lot could show yourselves here to help others decide if your advice is given with the benefit of experience or just hear-say and speculation ;)

A few brief words on the sort of work you've done and on which brands wouldn't go a miss.

...although any current employment activies directly related to Skoda probably shouldn't be mentioned... :)

Rob.

did a 3 year engineering aprenticeship working on reconditioning engines, re-bores , crank grinding, cylinder head reapairs etc.

then worked or mercedez dealership for a little while

been working around cars ever since i was a wee nipper, had my first polo and raced it when i was 12 years old, i've done engine transplants, tune ups, bodge ups and most stuff... the only thing i've never been able to master properly is paint spraying.

Now work for Land Rover/Aston/BMW/Jag/Ford for the HR Owen Group. So sorry not much use with skoda info... but with the fabia re-build I know my way around it very well.

I nominate Stu

Chris

ps Are you including armchair mechanics in this list too? ;)

I nominate my two mates who did most of the work on my car during its mongrelisation.

They're on here as "alexmechanic" and "horizon" I think?

What, me?

I know nothing. I work in McDonalds and have three stars.

So thats what you were talking about when you said chip it :P

well i'm called a senior technician , but the senior might have something to do with my age , LOL

And i (shock horror) am a qualified mechanic too... NVQ lvl 3  did a 2 year stint as a mechanic when i left college..

bet you didnt konw that!!!

I did! :P But only because you told me a while back. So you're a "not very qualified" level 3 eh? ;):D

So did they track you down by visiting dealers and looking for technicians who were fat and called Bob ?

I don't have any formal qualifications but I've spent close to 40 years watching, helping and doing. I try not to offer any suggestions on things I haven't actually had experience of.

I have a lump hammer and I know how to wield it! :D
