Some kind caring soul has just decided that I don't require a drivers mirror. Being a caring soul, they have left me a note on the windscreen to tell me where to send the repair bill (yeah right ).

The good news is that apart from the mirror hanging off, both the mirror and the car seem to be ok. The only damaged part seems to be the "peg" (for want of a better word) that holds the mirror to the bracket on the door.

So, the questions:

Does anybody have an idea to the part number I need, the likely cost from a dealer (not sure I can describe to skospares what I need) and how I go about getting to the other end of the bracket that is still in the socket on the car? Does the door card need to come off, of can I do what I need by just removing the tweeter and its cover?

would it not be cheaper goin to a scrapyard m8? probably get them for under a tenner.

Get mirror from breakers yard, transfer over your painted bits and glass etc if required, you uncle may now be called bob

Too tame, that's my problem!!

One good tug on the tweeter trim and can now see the screws.

As long as you have a mk1 then any year should be fine as you will be using the rest of the current mirror.

Personally I would take the 2002.

The VRS wasn't made in 2000 and that was pre face lift IIRC.

Since your glass is good they may have one with knackered glass going cheap too
