Fabia vRS or Civic Type R?

Featured Replies

When I get myself back on my feet I am going to look at either a Civic Type R or a Fabia vRS. I know they are two totally different cars. My heart says get the Civic but my head says get the Fabia. I clock up about 15 - 18000 a year so the Fabia would be far cheaper to run. But after driving a friends Type R I was very very impressed.....and was grinning like a Cheshire cat. Dont know what to do?

Get the CTR

If you want a fast hot hatch, get the Civic. If you don't you'll regret it.

For 15-18k miles, you might want to look at a diesel as the CTR is not the most frugal or refined car. If you're set on getting a CTR, how about looking at getting a cheap diesel motorway hack as well to rack up miles on and keep the CTR for fun? :D

Chris

If you can afford the Civic it'll repay you with mile upon mile of fun.

The civic is a good car but can be tyresome on a long run if you are giving it some, which you will need to as the vtec engine needs revs to make it work. MPG is very low, so fuel bills will be a lot higher. But as goochie said, if you can afford to keep filling it then it will reward you.

Agreed apart from needing to rev it. You'll need to rev it hard if you really want to go fast, round town and normal driving imo its no different to an NA 2litre.

If you rag it all the time you'll be in high teens low 20's. I used to average around 33mpg for a whole tank. On a long motorway run my record was 37mpg driving at 75-85mph.

I part-ex'd mine for a Fabia vRS.

Neily - do you regret it ?

Neily - do you regret it ?

Nope. In the last 12months i had my CTR i never did the type of driving that it wanted so i started to get p1ssed of with it.... hard suspension, filling it up all the time, can't park it anyway, waiting for someone to break into the house and give me a kicking for the keys. It just wasn't worth it. For the type of driving i do now the vRS is much better suited, more refined and comfy and i don't get out of it feeling stressed out and knackered evertime like i did with the CTR which demands 110% from you even if your just going the shops.....

Also the CTR has ****e headlights and now i have xenons.:thumbup:

Well you can't really compare them as they are in differnt price ranges BUT the civic is a better drivers car but if u really need 5 doors....

Thanks for the advice. Will see what happens. Although one thought I have had. Get a vRS and get it chipped and sort the suspension out. I would love a Type R but I think it seems crazy with the miles I do. It would never be out of the fuel staion.

I doubt a remapped/lowered Fabia vRS will ever be as fun as a CTR. After a remap you have 2.5k rpm to play with  Also once you've remapped it, it makes them too easy to drive 'quicker' and this soon uses diesel...well mine seems to anyway :(

Go for the Type R!!!!

Couldn't agree more. If I could afford one, I'd change cars in an instant.

driving a vrs quickly wont use as much diesel as driving a ctr quickly uses petrol though.

Yeah but driving a CTR fast = more fun :P

Aren't CTRs ch@v cars?

don't go there stumpy, every car has it's own type of driver, I don't think it has anything to do with the car though, it's just all coincidence ;)

Im a cha\/ and I drive a Skoda ;)

I'm to old to be a ****, but I'd have a CTR

yep, along with any RS/ST. and bmw's are for ******s, vw/audi are for badge snobs that are too stuck up etc etc...

...in fact the only car for the intelligent/discerning driver is a Fabia vRS

Don't be silly, all Skoda's are driven by OAPs and poor people who couldn't afford VW's ;)
