Voted for the Quattro. I'll never forget the sound of one going by in the Forest of Ae when I was marshalling on the RAC Rally back in the 80's.:eek:

One other missing - Triumph TR7 V8. Remember Tony Pond? Sadly missed. Again, remember marshalling on the Scottish Rally - 1980, I think? Pond and Fred Gallacher.:thumbup:

Gotta be the S1. With uncle Walter driving.

I would've voted 205T16, but out of them it's gotta be the Audi :D

BX thingy

Another vote for the Stratos here - I'll have it in the Alitalia livery in full Safari rally spec please  Of the other Group B stuff I was aways a T16 fan :)

S4 was 4x4, 032, and Stratos were RWD.

if you examine this picture very carefully you can see the front and rear driveshafts.... arrowed

But no prop shaft!

But no prop shaft!

i imagine it probably had 2 propshafts and a transfer box like most rally cars do

They were deffinitely RWD, I spotted the front shafts in the photo too, but not sure why they're there. Search the web and every page I've found confirms they were rwd.

the picture may be of a car which never went into production or even maybe a later spec car

I've noticed that (surprisingly) that the 6R4 has 5 votes ?

Don't remember it winning any group B races at all ?

I think the guys were referring to the 032 [/font']

they may have been refering to the 032 which is the road version but i'm sure that picture is of an 037 which is 4 wheel drive

although i must admit the picture in the link i put up is incorrect as that is the Delta S4 which is the one we have to vote on

edit i'm wrong i think , it seems the 032 and 037 are 2 wheel drive , although i must admit that i read somewhere that it was 4 wheel drive ,

DOH , I'LL GET ME COAT

Quattro.

Mikkolas 29.56 run up Shelsley in 86 does it for me.

The Stratos gets my vote. A more 'ordinary' rally car which I have seen plenty of in amateur rallying circles recently is the mk2 Escort with the crossflow engine (think it's the crossflow?) - they're superb! Tail out, engine screaming - they're an awesome! I took this photo of one at the North West Stages in Blackpool (on the promenade!!!) earlier this year:

These machines were the kings of there day and reaimed supreme before the quattros came along - driven by legends like Mikkola and Vateran

Audi Sport quattro every time ! noise,spectacle.......it had everything...still make my back tingle everytime i see and hear one at Castle Combe Rally day PLUS i have driven one of the first UK official road Sports, yum, yum !

S4 - awesome!

Why no 037? :(

I had a list of quite a few cars originally, but when I came to write it down, I couldn't remember all of them :P
