Traffic Light Cameras in Lancashire

Featured Replies

Sat at some traffic lights in Preston today, noticed one of these devices and it got me thinking as I have never herd of any one local getting flashed by one. Got home and did a bit of research and..........

According to the Dept. of Transport web site & the Lancashire Saftey Partnership there are non that are opperational, just seem to go for Gatso's and Mobile Units......

Can anyone from the area confirm or otherwise? Just seems a bit strange that there's at least one in Preston and its never used

I have seen a traffic light camera flash in Newcastle before. So I guess they must be real.

my neighbour got done after going through one near Chester , he won't drive through the light now , he slows down and stops even if its on green , waits for the red then when it changes to green he will drive through , i told him at the time to contest it because he said it wasn't safe to stop due a vehicle being close behind which would of made stopping quickly into an accident , he didn't want to go to court

Appreciate/know they are into them in a big way in other parts of the country, hence why I found it strange they didn't appear to be in use in Lancashire...

In fact I have never even seen one in Blackpool where I work (not seen any in Blackburn, Burnley, Chorley etc.... either), and have only ever seen 2 in Preston that appear not to be in use.

There's one In Leeds, bottom of Scotthall Road, nearv the BMW showroom..................AND it Works..:(

Is it an automatic 3-point

Plenty around here, I can think of 4 in the immediate vicinity. There's no denying it makes you watch the traffic lights more closely as you approach!

They're truvelo type cameras I believe, as such, won't always be visable when the flash as they use infra-red flashes? Just from memory but I think that's right.

Theres one in Bradford on Manningham Lane/Queens Road. Saw a bus get flashed the other day

Is it an automatic 3-point

My cousin was flashed in Rochdale going across Rochdale Rd from Albert Rhoyds Street to Kingsway.

They definitely incorporate some sort of delay between going red and flashing. Otherwise it would be daft.
