Octavia vRS front brakes

Featured Replies

I need to get some new front discs for my Octy vRS as they are currently a bit low on life. Dur to my propensity for driving in an enthusiastic manner ;) I am looking to upgrade the stopping power available (but still keeping the standard size discs)

I've been looking at some Black Diamond discs and was wondering which brake pad would go well with these. The options so far are:

1) Black Diamond Predator pads

2) Tarox Rallye+ pads

3) Ferrodo DS2500 pads

I am not looking for the ultimate in braking performance but I do require a upgrade in the maximum working temperatures as the standard set up have been known to get rather hot when driving in a spirited manner down a certain road  . Basically I am after a good fast road pad and disc combination which will work well from cold, has a good wear properties, good stopping power and a high maximum working temperature. I am also not looking to spend more than about

Have just changed all four wheels on my Octy vRS to Tarox G88 discs and Tarox fast road pads and cannot fault them. You can have a look on Friday at North Weald.

Other people swear by Black Diamond and Ferodo DS 2500.

Mine are just about shot too.

They were put on in Jan 2004, have done 3 or 4 track days and about 45k, not too bad I think...

They were black diamond drilled and grooved with DS2500's all round. The front discs are now almost grooveless so they will be changed soon. Depending on deals that I can find I'll either go with the same, or a tarox n pot setup.

Thanks for the advice guys

Looks like I will go with the Black Diamond / DS2500 combination. Any ideas as to the best place to get them from?

you will not go wrong with DS2500 pads, Mintex-1144 compound is another equivalent well worth considering which will tolerate some temperature but still work from cold.
