My 51 plate Octy Vrs went in for a 40,000 mile service and cam-belt change and when I got home I noticed this piece of rubber on my scuttle panel. It measures about 2" long by 1" wide.

I can't see anywhere obvious under the bonnet where it should go and not even sure if it is off my car.

Any clues would be appreciated! I do have other vews but they are to big to put onto one post.

Looks like the plug that fits into a whole in the gearbox bell housing, they would have removed it to check that they had the engine timing set correctly.

If you look at the gearbox where it mounts to the engine, you should be able to see the whole where it sits.

If it's only an inspection hole cover then no damage will be done driving I presume?

No damage, but would suggest it goes back ASAP. It stops any little debris falling inside and possibly causing damage.
