remapping the vrs petrol mk2...

Featured Replies

Have tried searching the forums but not found a great deal,.... maybe I'm useless (my wife seems to think so:rolleyes: )

Revo are quoting 260bhp, same as MK5 golf gti which makes sense as it's the same engine...... but has anyone had this done ??

I've had two 1.8t beetles remapped, one revo one jabba, and he difference was like night and day on both. Is there a big jump in mid range performance with the Octy too ??

Also how badly is average mpg hit..... as my beetle cab used to drink at speed, especially with the hood down:thumbdwn:

Many thanks, any help greatly appreciated:D

You are the Skoda Mole, and I claim my free pint!!!!!! :)

You may not get much of a response on this m8, it's a bit like posting a banner saying "Which mk2 vRS owners have invalidated their warranty!"

Okey-Dokey !!

I work in financial services - not for Skoda

If anyone want's to PM me with what they 'Imagine' the remap they 'might choose' would be like in performance and average mpg terms I'd be really grateful :D :D :D

and what 'said' remap might cost.

Or alternatively does anyone have a 'nameless' friend who has had their own Octy remapped

C'mon, what's your friends car like after the remap ????

Incidentally, if skoda do monitor this site, how could they ever tie up your registration to your name tag ??

It has been done before, don't know how but they did - cant see you getting many responses.

If I owned a MK2 vRS (Which I dont, anymore  ) I would go for a Jabba remap. I prefer the custom way rather than a stock 2.0TFSi generic chip.

I'm led to believe that a remap by Revo - other tuners are avaliable - leaves the mpg unaffected. I'm informed that an average mpg on a run can be as high as 37mpg, whereas a town environment would see an average of around 25mpg. This is of course not using the extra power. If you drive like a loon, then expect sub 20mpg when "kicking it's head in".

Performance wise, i'm told, the car gets huge mid range pull, with over 300ft/lbs of torque on tap. I believe 0-60 is sub 6 seconds, with a top speed of 160+ mph too.

Clearly I can't confirm any of this, but it all sounds good to me

PS - Hello Skoda mole..........my car is standard :)

There are one or two on here that have remaps on the OctyII vRS. I believe that the general concensus of opinion is that REVO offer the best remap at the moment with the others such as Custom Code & APR catching up fast.

I believe that fuel economy is unaffected and if anything actually improves with a remap, it's only what I've heard mind you ;)

I think that might be a somewhat exagerated!. You may achieve those kind of figures with a full turbo back sports exhaust system, cold air intake and stageII remapping but again this is purely heresay. :P

Well, funny you should say that, as the stage one APR map saw 170mph on someones sat nav once upon a time. The dodgy valve caused problems thereafter sadly. Anyway, the dodgy valve should be totally sorted soon I hear. If I hear it's cured the problems, and higher boost may be maintained, i'll let you know. Inside info and all that

170mph on sat-nav??

thats got to be about 190mph on the speedo which is just not possible i'd say. no way it would be safe either.

Very interesting sir, would be intrigued to know what the outcome would be. Perhaps you could get your 'friend' to pass on this information when all is sorted. :P

It's great when ones friends can pass on such valuable and usefull information, mines staying standard until the waranty is up but I think my friend is likely to go the revo route, based on hearsay and speculation :D :D :D

Always the doubter Benjamin. I'll obtain proof the next time my friend has his car running that well, and has access to his 11 mile long private road. The speedo only goes to 160, and as for unsafe, easy to say that from your desk without know where or when the "test" took place.

Bonneville ? Black Rock ?

Bonneville ? Black Rock ?

I just know it as the M55 motorway.

(I'm joking of course Mr Policeman....)

i just don't think that 180mph+ is safe at any time of day or any conditions for a road car on public roads mate, not doubting anyone in particular.

but 170mph on GPS is quite bloody fast, i just don't think a 250-280bhp car as heavy or big as an octavia is capable of such speeds.

I believe aerodynamics play as large a part as the power/size/wieght. I know you like to see proof, and doubt until evidence is offered, but trust me, 170 was on the sat nav. It was a one off, and since has only been able to attain speeds circa 160mph on the sat nav. Tyres are rated to 186 mph, and the car is very very stable at high speeds. Clearly this was not done on a public road in the UK

:)

just seems very high thats all mate, i've had a couple of slow speed accidents over the years due to bad weather or something out of my control and know how quickly things get very dangerous or out of your control at 30 or 50mph so can't begin t imagine how quickly/bad things get at 170mph.

Remap only for my friend....

he's done the whole milltek turbo back with sports cat on another car and couldn't justify the extra cost (after the event!!) when compared to another 'remapped only' car. The milltek'd car was quicker but not significantly.

Not overly interested in top speed, more interested in 0-100, 40-100 etc and increased in gear performance and engine flexibility.

Cheers for all the info though, some peoples friends have cookin' cars:thumbup:

Generally is the consenus 'revo' for a simple remap though with no other mod's ??

Anyone considered Star Performance, they seem to be getting similar results to Revo and with no issues with cutting out, they just use a Cotton Gauze filter rather than the overly expensive ( and seemedly flawed) P-Flo.....

Ive "heard" of the cutting out without the p flo. £305? Sure the one I know about was half that price.

Thought your 'friend' might be interested in the new carbon fibre engine cover specifically designed for the P-Flo :P

Oooh, he might like this too ;)

Mmm,.... my friend hadn't heard about the engine cutting out with Revo ??

is this a problem or has it been resolved now ???

No problems at all now as I'm led to believe ;)

I'd do a full long winded report, because the same questions are being asked over and over.

Yes, it does cut out with revo, dependant on your method of air induction....

I'll report my findings over the last 6 months later.
