Mmmm,... now my friend's a little confused

If he went for revo with no other mods, so standard induction, will he encounter the engine cutting out ?? many thanks:thumbup:

Also are there any reports on how the clutch bears up to the big torque increase ???

If he has a stage 1 Revo, with standard induction, maybe replace the filter with a k+n, or other make, then he should be fine

:)

just seems very high thats all mate, i've had a couple of slow speed accidents over the years due to bad weather or something out of my control and know how quickly things get very dangerous or out of your control at 30 or 50mph so can't begin t imagine how quickly/bad things get at 170mph.

Ive been in a mates car thats GPS'ed at 160.. got there shockingly easily

Was it a "standard" red octavia 1.4 16v ;)

I had a passenger ride in it at high speed and it felt very stable

I'm going to sound like such an amateur but what exactly is remapping?

It's the same as getting the car chipped, just done without removing the ecu, and done through the diagnostic port

Remapping which used to be commonly known in the industry as 'chipping' has evolved somewhat. This info from REVO might help explain further.

So would a Skoda dealer do it or is it something they frown on?

it's a big no no as far as Skoda are concerned. If you value your warranty, don't do it (you're supposed to tell your insurance too)

Was I with you at the time? ;)

Hi,

Had RICA remapping done a week ago, done about 1500 miles since.

Very mixed feelings about it:

1- Performance/MPG varies every day! It seems that the chip kind of has mood swings with days with HUGE power and OK MPG, some days with normal power and normal MPG and some other days it's all bad

2- Best I got in terms of top speed is 160Mph on the speedo, on a "normal" day i.e. not one of these days when the mid-range power is just psychotic.

3- Best MPG I got going to Paris on Friday was...wait for it...48MPG at 80- 85mph pretty much stable, no stop from Bristol to Dover. Worse was yesterday with 2h10min from Dover to Bristol...18mpg.

It cost me

@achristo, RICA is a fine company but is known here in Holland for remapping Volvo ! Try to get in touch with JD-Engineering, mine is remapped there and i am more than satisfied !! JD is the absolute VAG-expert here in the Netherlands and has done my vRS with a special software for the 2.0 TFSI. That means among other things, no OBD but ECU out and also a remap for the TCS so that the torque doesn't come in rightaway ! JD Engineering

Check this topic for my remap. http://www.briskoda.net/forums/new-octavia/best-weekend-so-far-my-vrs/64254/#post730676

One thing i wonder, why did you get the remap in the Netherlands ??

hi There,

I had it done in the UK. You are quite correct, the people are Volvo specialists but also do VAG cars.

They put your car on a laptop and run some acceleration, throttle etc tests and then send the results to Holland. A few hours later RICA sends a new map by email.

I will have to take the car back to that place and see I find a resolution or a refund I guess...

Cheers

Alex
