Slight Vibration Through Clutch Pedal - Normal?

Featured Replies

Octavia vRS, 53 plate, 30K

When I am sitting in traffic, in neutral with my foot just resting on the clutch pedal I can feel a slight vibration through it.

I also feel the same when driving along, just resting my foot slightly on the pedal I can feel a definite vibration, but nothing alarming.

Is this normal? Or is this a sign of things to come - i.e. is it a sign that the clutch is on it's way out?

I obviously have no way of knowing how the car was driven by it's previous owners (and for 2 weeks by the scallys that stole it!) but the rest of the car is showing no outward signs of abuse, all other mechanicals appear to be behaving themselves.

Something I should get sorted out?

Cheers,

Steven.

Cant say I noticed on mine, but I never drove mine with the left foot anywhere near the pedal.

The clutch can take a lot of abuse, mine was still fine when sold, despite being remapped and having done 70 or so laps of the ring plus being stuck in stop/start traffic. Car was on around 54K when sold.

Can feel the vibration on mine, and in my friends Seat, so I think a slkight vibration might be a trait of all VAG cars.

AFAICT, it is deliberate, to stop you resting your foot on it. Mine does it and has done since new. Currently on 50K, btw.

Learn to put your left foot on the floor when not changing! Resting your foot on the pedal will cause premature clutch wear, if my previous cars are anything to go by.

(I used to rest my foot on the pedal, but have trained myself out of it!)
