BMW 530i

Featured Replies

....it's faster than the 630i I drove last time for some funny reason....maybe its engine was tweaked, or the 630i engine had an issue...it's a lighter car with the same engine...so somethin' musta been wrong about it...

Had it last night....it's very nice :) Good amount of torque to work with, IIRC 300Nm, so even tapping the pedal had us leaping forward in low gear.

0-62 in about 6 seconds. 50-70mph in about 4.7 seconds in 3rd gear, 7.4 seconds in 5th.

It's very fast....I still can't get the view of everything as a blur out of my mind...I hit 163mph on an empty stretch of road...that is the fastest I have ever gone in any car, and everything was just blurry....the 630i, though I would believe to be much more aerodynamically efficient but with the same engine, struggled to hit 155mph....this beast I had just went straight for it without hesitation!

Handles pretty darned well. Those tyres were glued to the road and roll was extremely minimal...I reckon it could take a Mustang on the twists as well as the straight :P

Interiors...standard Beemers...Push-to-Start button, GPS, leather seats nice this nice that.

It's a nice car...if I had the money I would buy it. Four doors, so it's practical, plenty of space in the back, huge boot, powerful engine, good looks and hot alloy wheels. And it handles beautifully (though I thought the steering [as usal] is too light) Never been a fan of the front clusters but that's nothing to give up a whole car about.

I'm beginning to really love the performance of most BMW cars of today. Driven plenty of them and the experience just keeps getting better and better.

Still can't get that blur out of my mind...never hit such high speed before

Thats because its limited to that speed

Cars here don't have speed limiters Chris.

Cars here don't have speed limiters Chris.

I am bored and was curious, just spoke to the Senior Sales Exec at AGMC (BMW Dubai) and it is indeed limited.

Nice little review, I've driven a few different new Beemers recently and they are indeed quality cars

Wow!

A thread where someone states that they have been doing more than the speed limit on an open road and the "We always stick to the speed limit" crowd havent started to post stuff about little innocent children being killed by irresposible/snarling speeding drivers.

Well done, very grown up, i like this site!!

Dubai might not have speed limits as well as no speed limiters. ;) ??

The General Manager at AGMC is an old family friend dear friend, who I just spoke to after you told me this, and it is indeed not limited.

5-lane highway.

Never mentioned what the speed limit is on that road either so you can't tell me I broke the speed limit.

Perhaps the old family friend dear friend should tell his new new staff that they are talking b0llocks b0llocks then:rofl:

630i and 530i both weigh exactly the same...

Well to be quite honest a lot of car salesmen in this country have all the knowledge about cars upto when the subject of torque comes up so I wouldn't be surprised if the Sales Exec you spoke to said it has a limiter when it actually doesn't.

How convenient!

Please read my post again if you think i was having a go.

Those sort of speeds on a public road? SHOCKING! :grumpy: I think people like you should be put up against a wall and shot! Have you ever seen the carnage of an accident at those speeds? What happens if a camel wanders out? Or a blind child?

Those sort of speeds should only be obtained in certain places*! Are you a complete ****wit? :grumpy:  :grumpy:

* Outside schools at 3:15pm is when I'd do it! :D

Nice review Mil, I prefer the 5 to the 6 personally. Not sure a 530 would go quite that fast TBH, there is also speedo inaccuracy to be taken in to account......

I stand by this Mil. I DO know!!! Please dont turn this into a 'Mustang' thread!! ;)

I thought all BMW.s where limited due to a gentlemans agreement with mercedes etc. However the limiter is easily removed so wether the vehicle Mil drove was limited or not I have no idea.

{removes diplomatic head}

;) Smart Ar**

But is it limited to an actual 155mph or an indicated 155mph?

Chris

Chris

Indicated Chris. I hit the limiter in Germany @ 156mph on the speedo. It wouldnt go any faster. Not that I wanted to. Ground rush is awesome at that speed!!

Do we have to go through all this again?

Youre right Ross. I end my posts on this

I like the way you've got a BLIND child in it, but you should have got "innocent" in there as well, maybe crippled and/or orphan too!
