Has anyone got 17" wheels on their VRs estate?

Featured Replies

Has anyone put 17" wheels on their VRs estate, if so can you notice any changes in handling and comfort etc?

Quite a few have gone 18" IIRC, looks pretty nifty.

I put 18's on mine, with 225/40 rubber. It doesn't make too much difference to the comfort level, but it makes a hell of a difference to the handling. Much less understeer than the original 16's. Affects the mpg mind... ;)

Mine has 18's too - cant comment on any difference though as they were on when I bought it.........

What size are the 16's ? If anyone has a spare set from a VRS I may know of a good home for them ;)

They'd look a lot better than the 5 spoke 16's on our Octavia.

Thanks for all the replies. It actually handles well for a 16", re-mapped, family estate but I do think it would look slightly better with 17 / 18" 0n. Am I right in thinking that the 18" wheels arne't original Skoda ones?

Hi, please excuse my lack of knowledge but what are IIRC?, had a search on Google but can't find a link.

Thanks Guy

If I Remember Correctly

IIRC = If I recall Correctly.

Quite a few have put the vrs hatch std 17s on I think for a slightly meaner oem look - but yes, the 18s would be non OEM - mine has audi RS6's on it. They do stick out a "little" bit too far to be honest, but its never got me or the last owner into any grief!

Heres a pic of mine:

Cheers - still loving it after 4 months of ownership - have managed to scrape a couple of the alloys though :weeping:

BooHoo the memories...... :weeping:

In fact I'm half thinking about getting another one :)

How dare you damage my wheels Joby.......

:D

how do Jimmy! Was gutted about the alloys - hadn't got used to the car and was going round a tight left hand bend, and not concentrating enough - kerbed both the ns wheels. Have thought about replacing them, but figured that any replacements would only got the same way in the end - might be tempted by a change next year sometime.

So - you're thinking of getting another octy eh! Thought you'd gotten yourself an S2000 - spose it not quite as practical as the octy was!

I must admit I damaged one of the rear ones about 4 days after putting them on now I was absolutely gutted....... Aye still got the S2000 but was thinking about another Octy for the Mrs to use. More reliable than the Audi!!!

Glad your enjoying it anyway ;)

Apologies for going OT. Either 17" or 18" will fit fine on the estate with no problems in a vain attempt to bring back OT...... :)
