It's wasted on me....

Featured Replies

I was just thinking -The last half dozen or so cars that I've had have had cup holders. The Octavias had a cool one that folded out of the centre console. I had a Volvo where it popped out of the dash. My Omega had a centre console that unfolded to give you a double one, and the Signum has one in the centre console, and two in the travel assistant. And I've never, in my life, put a cup in one!

Same with the fag lighters. They always live in the door pocket, and something else is plugged in. I've never lit a cigarette with one -or even used one.

So, which bits of your car have been carefully designed and crafted, only to be totally ignored by you?

Phil

I wish the TT had a cup holder ! You can buy an aftermarket one, but nearly £90 is a bit steep in my opinion ! The most pointless things in my car are the vanity lights which automatically switch on when you slide back the the cover on the mirror in the sunshades. Although I guess people who do their make-up in the car think they're fantastic.

sunglasses holder, with damped mechanism.

Can't think of anyone daft enough to willingly leave a pair of oakley's in a car - lets face it, during the day, you'd take them with you, and at night, you'd surely do the same as you might go out or sit in the garden or something......

Or is that just me?

Also, jacket hooks as part of the grab-handles......I've never used one yet. Why?? I'd rather lie my jacket on a suit-hanger/carrier affair in the boot or back seat that obstruct side vision....

I use the sunglasses holder pretty much all the time. If it ain't got my cheapo pair of shades in there then I put my mobile phone in it

I cant get my Oakley's in it, you have to have slim shades or is that Slim Shady ?

A BMW driver would say 'Indicators' at this point ,right?? ;)

A blonde in a great 4x4 truck delivering the kids to school would love the vanity mirror with the auto lights.....................Ideal for puttiung on Lippy..

I don't tend to use the brake pedal :D

the one thing I have not really used in my car is the rear seats :(

I also don't use the wipers past auto, the MW on my radio (as it is sooo bad, I've had to get DAB) and the air vent in the glove box/jumbo box.

Rear seats I guess......my little boy and my wife go in thepeople carrier, mine just gets used by me and that's it, so only useful for putting my jacket on, wife doesn't like the car...too loud and noisy  ....nice and clean though;) Mind you with seats the construction and colour in a VRS MK1 bloody impossible to keep clean, so bonus!!

AC cooler can cooler - never used. Same for the pocket where the OBD2 port is.

Never used the ashtray for ash

Never used the side pockets on the front seats as they're too tight

Never used the drivers seat rear pocket and things tend to dig in my back (well, I guess you could say I used it the once to find that out ;))

I've never used the rear handles that fold down way high on the back doors....because I've never sat in the back while its driving. :D

Ummmm... Thats all for now.

 I was just going to post that myself

I always leave my sunglasses in the car and I do use my coat hooks too, but I haven't ever used the refrigerated bit under the centre armrest to chill a drink yet

Oh, and the same as Jason, never used the ashtray and never will (and that goes for anyone who even thinks about smoking in my car  ) - currently contains my spare electric garage door opener

How about the spare tyre....... is it in the boot? :o

Everything on Jasons list except rear grab handles cos I hand shirts on the drivers one if I'm working away...

the cooled glove compartment.

How about the spare tyre....... is it in the boot? :o

Friend was most smug that his new BMW didn't need a spare as it had "drive on" tyres (or some such). Naturally, I applauded the advantage that not only did he not need a spare, but he also didn't have to carrier a passenger permanently in case a tyre blows

Wasted items? The bonnet-opening lever :D
