Yes, yes, I know... I blame my parents for not warning me at an early stage in life that when you're married you forfeit all pleasures in life :(

But rest asured, I will be there. The battle isn't over... yet

Ironic isn't it that "pleasures in life" is what got you married in the first place.! ;)

Wouldn't it be useful if there was someone there with a fridge to keep our drinks cool?

;)

:D

Ive got a 12 volt cool box, Martinies should be well shaken after a few laps.

Rob's got a fridge in his Octy.....enough for 9 cans I think.....well that's me sorted then.;)

Now why didn't I think of Rob? ;)

Oh look, his name is missing from the list..... :D

B**ger..... :D

Come on people, everyone must know a friend who would like to take there car on track.

I might be able to get my friend with his mr2 turbo to turn up (those who went to anglesey recently will know who i mean)

How do we feel about Clios?

Some rollerskates for the Furby boys to play with? I gather some on here are members on there as well.

Or, what about the Mrk 4 Golf people?

Don't we have 1500 members and only 40 people have put down their names. By my calculations that's some 1460 members left...surely another 30 can be found with that number??

U thinking of the clio guys from anglesey? (they where top blokes)

I can't really comment too much as i am a non-skoda owning briskodian, and i don't want to ruin the "skoda theme" for the day with TOO many other marques turning up.

What about opening it up to another forum like MLR or scoobynet?? Or are there other forums for other VAG cars like TT's, SEAT's etc??

Same here.

It's not my event, so not for me to set any criteria, but my own thoughts are:

  • It's been advertised as a Briskoda day, and also as a "beginners" day. I think we should be looking for those people first. As we start bringing in more and more track day veterans, the appeal for those who are looking for an introduction to track driving will diminish in proportion.
  • Consistent with being affordable, the numbers should be kept to a minimum to give those people who turn up a fair crack. I've heard of track days where you spend all day waiting for your 20 minutes of track time.

How many people do we need to pay for the day?

I think it's 60 for £100 all in. Des will no doubt give the correct figures.

This is mainly aimed at beginners, hence the choice of venue and the format of the day.

Yes, it should be mainly Skodas as that is what the bulk of the beginners will feel most comfortable with, although we do have members who don't drive Skodas. They should be just as welcome as anyone else. Some are novices, some are experienced, but we will be split into groups (at least for the morning) based on experience.

The sessions will be 20 minutes, which is quite enough for most normal road cars. By running in sessions, we avoid people staying out too long and potentially damaging their cars. Open pit in the afternoon will be limited to a max of 25-30 cars on track at any one time (IIRC) with a limit of 30 mins each. You can of course rejoin the queue to go back out straight away. Cars will be marked to allow everyone to identify the experience level of the person catching up/ being caught.

Ok so we need to keep campaigning for a while yet then.

Heartily agreed - notice I didn't mention Skoda, but Briskoda...

I agree 20 minutes at a time is enough - one slot of 20 minutes in a whole day might be seen as a bit disappointing - that was my only point.

This is going to cost me another set of tyres isn't it!??

Are there facilities for refuelling there or nearby?????

What are the run-offs like - is it a field or some tyre wall none of us want to meet?

It's an old airfield, no trye walls, in most places you can go about 100m before hitting anything solid. Refuelling is a bit of a pain IIRC, but I ain't been for 2 years. The 2 mile back straight is "interesting" :D
