MotoGP - Estoril

OMG!!! What a race!

I think somebody is going to be having a talk with Mr Pedrosa!:D

Really feel for Hayden. He was FURIOUS.

The last lap was amazing. First & second position decided by 0.002 sec!

Elias & Rossi battling it out for first position. Now Rossi leads the championship by 8 points.

Can't wait for Valencia!

Did you see the interview with Pedrosa afterwards on bbci...? i thought he was going to burst into tears.

I certainly wouldn't want to have been him at the team meeting afterwards :D

I didn't think this year's championship could get any more exciting. Any bets on Pedrosa's contract being cancelled for next year? Last GP is NOT to be missed - forza Valentino !!

Reckon the only way that Mini P could save his ride for next year is is he takes off Rossi in the decider :) Thought it was a great race .. although how Elias suddenly found so much speed after being distinctly 3rd class all season was a bit odd

I was gutted that Hayden got nudged off......would love to see Rossi have the same luck next race.

Je vais gloaterais tout le blessed afternoon; Hayden is both a Septic and riding a Honda!

Huh??

He is American & rides Honda, but what is your point?

It was indeed one of the best races ever - the DVD of the season will be on my xmas list 'for sure' as Vale would say. Valenica is going to be amazing - I wonder what Hayden's mindset will be like though - from 53 points ahead to 8 behind?

You gotta feel for Hayden, the guy deserves the title this year. Dont get me wrong, i'm Rossi's biggest fan, it would just be good to see someone else win it for a change, like i said, Hayden deserves it this year:thumbup: Rossi is a GOD though, eh?!!

I felt so sorry for Nicky. Such bad luck for him, if it was me I would having been chasing Mr P with my helmet.

What about Elias, he was like a rallydriver doing the Scandinavian flick. Even Rossi couldn't match him deep into one of the hairpin bends.

THe ball is well and truely back in Rossi's court. Should be an interesting finale.

Btw You might get the race highlights on Eurosport.com if interested.

Just loved Ellias overtake at the end of the main strait he went soooooo deep and sideyways and pinned it awesome.

How so? Vale has won more races, and come from _way_ behind to lead the championship, despite having to ride a yellow bike (the only way Colin Edwards could beat him). ;)

And for the other comments; it takes someone exceptional in personality terms to get me to support either a Septic or a Honda rider, and Nicky (without wishing him ill) is neither IMO. He somehow comes across as having the same sort of flashy "I'm the greatest" arrogance as Randy Mamola did back in the day, when neither had the skills to back it up. Ok, either of them could beat me, but I see Vale and Caperix (and Shinji and Seti on their days) as being able to annihilate either of them on equal equipment.

Lets be honest, Rossi is the ONLY one with a personality. Thats why he has a huge fan base, always playing up in front of the camera. As for Hayden not having the skills, why was he the one who led the championship for so long, OBVIOUSLY because he HAS got the skill. I've never once seen Hayden showing arrogance or "i'm the greatest!!" attitude. Hes just a young guy whos living a dream IMO. Theres no doubting that Rossi is a god, i dont think that there will ever be anyone else like him, but credit where credits due, Hayden has been the most consistent, alot more so then Cap, Gib, Shin etc etc.

I'd have to agree with above. In fairness to Nicky if Honda gave him the equipment the Dani had available to him he'd be walking the championship at this stage.

Btw Guys all this talk of Moto GP did any of you see my post about World Superbikes, wow apart from the Nicky/Dani incident...the Superbike race was actually way better.

Hey, Max Biaggi had a personality too, which just goes to show that that's not always a good thing!

As for Nicky leading the championship for so long, he's the only one of the cited riders to have an HRC bike (well other than Dani who is a MotoGP rookie after all), which just takes us back into the whole "Honda 'buying' championships by having a bigger budget than everyone else" thing.

I'd have to agree with above. In fairness to Nicky if Honda gave him the equipment the Dani had available to him he'd be walking the championship at this stage.

You reckon Dani's getting a significantly better bike than Nicky!? I thought that that was one of HRC's strengths, so if Dani's running a more advanced engine spec say, it's cos he asked to use it, and Nicky didn't like the power delivery or something.

As for WSB, I don't have satellite (subject to review how I may have found a company who'll give me the channels I do want, without the halibut (and Kissball channels) that Murdoch would want to saddle me with. Also I've not seen the last MotoGP or WSB races, due to being on travelling days for hols when they were on.

I don't think you can really argue that Hayden has been troubled by equipment this season though. If Rossi had the Honda the championship would be long gone by now - his early season chatter and reliability were shocking which is really what let Hayden get so far in front. I still view Hayden as a Mamola type in that he's reasonably fast and consistent but without being anything startling - he also seems to have folded recently under the pressure that Rossi has put him under (last race excepted obviously as there was little he could do about Mini P doing his Kamikaze impression).

Next season will be interesting to see - particularly to see (a) if Pedrosa can actually kick on from quite a decent first season ; and (B) what effect the change to 800s will have.

That really was my argument; the only reason Nicky got that lead was having the best bike and a rookie teammate, and Vale having bike issues that slowed him down (and lost him some points from brakedowns too, yes).

The same could be said for Rossi, Colin Edwards hasnt got the same spec M1, Yamaha only gave him the same spec in Estoril to help him act as 'buffer'. No doubt they'll give him the same spec in Valencia. As for Biaggi having a personality:confused:

I wasn't tring to use it as an excuse...just mentioning that theres been a massive difference in a couple of races where Dani put a country mile between him and Hayden...eg Donington which would/should have wrapped up title by now., obviously Rossi without mechanical issues would have been right there.

Also what about Auz...the clutch was so weak off the line (which HRC couldn't sort) he couldn't compete off the line from the front, the only thing that saved him was the wet.

From listening to the Eurosport commentary he's been doing a lot of testing parts work....not just engine which really has hampered him throughout the year.

Btw Ken you might get the vid review of WSB race on Eurosport.com

Did anyone see the Ilmor machine? What a sexy little thing that is!:D

And where did Edwards finish?

The Doctor:bowdown: is by far the best of the present riders, & if you take the season as a whole he's had worse "luck" than Haydon, remember he was taken off earlier in the season too.

As for little P in the 2 races that he & Rossi:bowdown: have contested on a level field,

Rossi  won hands down.

So in conclusion:- Rossi:bowdown: is a GOD & will win this years championship, anyone who disagrees, will be eaten by the YETTIE:eek:

.

Not convinced about that; as I said Colin was beating Vale on the chattering spec frame.

Another of these "I think I'm wonderful" personalities, where the ego was writing cheques that the body etc couldn't cash. It's rare that I actively dislike a racing motorcyclist, but Max was an exception, and that doesn't happen without some sort of obvious personality.

Yup Max was convinced he was better than anyone else, trouble was, on track, the truth rahter became obvious.

His little mind games constantly backfired on him too.

He tried it with Rossi, he even tried it on Mick Doohan, in both cases, he got biatch-slapped on track.

I agree that if Rossi hadn't had so many tyre / machine problems this year, he'd have already won the title. Even with the ups and downs he's had this year, you can never quite rule him out of the fight.

The final race should be very insteresting, you can bet, both Yamaha and Honda are going to have team orders. So long as Rossi is only 1 bike behind Hayden, he's safe.

With any luck however, he'll be at least 1 bike ahead and take the championship in style. It's going to be an edge of the seat meeting for sure. if Rossi got punted off then the title would fall back to Hayden, still everything to play for.
