DAB/FM Roof Aerial, which one?

Featured Replies

I have seen Blaupunkt & JVC. (I used to own the Blaupunkt one but it didn't fit my old car) is there any difference as in the pictures they look the same? I know one costs nearly twice the amount of the other. Is there any other ones out there?

Which Blaupunkt one are you referring to?

There is a beesting replacement aerial which costs a fair bit more, but it is in fact two aerials in one - provides both traditional FM/AM radio and DAB all rolled into one.

Reception is generally considered better than the internal "stick against the windscreen" ones. Also, the beesting one looks very OEM-like so it's less likely to attract unwanted attention ;)

Yes the DAB/FM one as the thread title suggests.

After the last one i bought didn't fit as the cars roof mounting also housed the screen washer, I bought a external window mount (just DAB), but since I got my Fab I want a dual use one.

But is the JVC one the same unit, if so why is it cheaper? They both seem to be based on the one by Panorama Antennas Ltd.

Try a PM to Superted - He may be just the man to help you out based on your previous findings ;)

I would say that the Blaupunkt unit is more expensive because it does not house the AM/FM + DAB amplifier internally in the base. It would appear that the DAB splitter/amplifier is seperate, hence all the mucking about with additional cables etc.

I can't vouch for the JVC model, but i woud say that the amplifier is integral of the base mount unit, as is the Panorama unit........

Now how would one go about aquiring said Panorama unit I wonder?? ;):D

I had the blaupunkt one on my old vRS, with the separate box. One wire runs from the antenna base to the splitter behind the dash, and then two from that into the HU.

I believe the new version of the antenna now has the splitter in the base.

Yes the version I owned had the splitter in the base. I will probably go for the cheapest option then :) I don't have to have a Blaupunkt aerial for a Blaupunkt stereo.

Thanks everyone.

I've fitted the latest Blaupunkt DAB/FM to my Furby. It now has all of the amplification built into the base, and when used with the Blaupunkt HU takes it power through the DAB aerial lead, leaving you to run just the FM lead in paralell.:)

I also went for the Blaupunkt roof Duel Dab/Fm jobbyafter the JVC stick-on aerial in my Fabia was loosing the signal, a local Carsound depot supplied and fitted it for £100 which was cheaper than i expected, the signal has been perfect ever since The model was A-DRT 01-M

I fitted a new JVC HU a couple of months back with the separate DAB box. Didn't fancy the stick on antenna but was shocked at the price of the duel fm/dab bee-sting antenna, but after a lengthy search I found one on ebay.de (Germany) for less £50 with all cabling and adapters.

Fitted perfect and works a treat..... also looks the the OEM antenna too.
