Cavalier GSi

Featured Replies

They did a 3.0 GSI/SRI (can't remember) which was a lovely, quick motor.

2.5 V6 was the biggest engine fitted as standard to the cavalier.

:iagree: and that was 173bhp i think :)

It was also available for some reason in big standard trim, so you got 170 odd brake in a car with keep fit windows and steel wheels.

how random,

I had a cav gsi for about 5 years and loved it,spent shed loads on it and then sold it for a pitance,i fitted the 6 speed box off the turbo, turbo leather and also junked the injection in favour of twin 45 webbers, was a great car but was a money pit

I had a 91 'H' plate GSi 16v for a couple of years. It cost me loads in running costs (exhaust, tyres, brakes, clutch etc) but was a blast to drive, and imho the best looking Cavalier - mine was a dark metallic grey..in the end the reliability and repair costs meant it had to go...but when it was running Ok, I loved it.

And as a result the plod loved them as unmarked cars... 15" steelies iirc? And twin zorsts

I used to have a Mk3 2.0 16V LS Cavalier in metallic green (Nautilas?).

Bought it ex-demo with 19K on it and sold it 2 years later with 73K on it.

I loved the fact that most LSs around here were of the 1.8 variety, with a few 2.0 8V but the 16V LS was a rare beast.

My cousin used to run a 4x4 Turbo Calibra - nice car until he maxxed it up with huge bodykit, 19" Team Dynamics DTMs (on their own nice, but not with the kit!), etc.

Always fancied a GSi but never quite got round to one.

Incidentally, one of the guys on ScottishVAG forum up here just bought a Mk1 Astra GTE in white on Sat - saw it yesterday at the Star RR day and it is really mint!

Reminded me of my Mk2 Cavalier SRI in metallic burgundy with nice subtle bodykit, tartan check recaros, etc. Loved that car!

The only photo I have of it >>> (taken at Knockhill @ Touring Cars back in 1992)

I really like the Mk1 Astra GTE.

the Mk2 Cavalier 1.8 SRi was quite good too. Only 115bhp, but not exactly heavy (probably not good in a crash...)

Slightly related to this, a colleague used to run a 2.5 V6 Vectra LS with plastic wheel trims etc. Made quite a good Q car but the interior reallty was dire.

Dad had 3 cavaliers - the last of which was written off my a large bale of straw falling onto the front end

I used to have a mk2 cav 1.8 cdi, same engine as the sri, but with brown corduroy interior, and detachable bags on the front doors. How gay. Great car though. Was quite nippy.

The Mk2 GTE Astra was a quick car -I was lucky enough to have a day driving them around Donnington!

Fun, but a bit scary.....
