I believe its for the air pump. Extra air is pumped into the exhaust to aid the cat when the car is cold, the filter just keeps the air clean into the pump.

I believe it shouldn't been blocked off altogether.

(Back on topic)

I just fitted mine!:D

I was perplexed by the rubber boot too, see attachment for my 'workaround'.

It involved cutting two slits in the 'useless' side and squeezing it over the MAF, other end as normal over the carbon pipe.

I also removed one of the horns from near the filter to make access easier (haven't tried it yet to see if it still works)

Also removed headlight and was able to fit it on my own, along with Neuspeed TIP and hyperboost DV, without jacking the car up, in 3 hours 15mins.

I have only got minor scratches to both wrists/arms:D and head(from rubber boot problem:D)

Got to go for a test drive now:D:D

Forgot the attachments.

Also after cutting the rubber boot, i fitted some tape around it before clamping with a clip.

1057.attach

1058.attach

1059.attach

I put the rubber boot on the other way round

Had the larger end on the Maf and the smaller end was inserted into the carbon pipe

I assume (should never make assumptions) that the smaller end of the rubber boot is for a different size MAF (possibly fitted to the models listed on the fitting instructions) and not specifically octy's. As mentioned earlier a straight piece of silicone tubing would be better, and also the clip which holds it to the wing could be redesigned better, but i still like it.

Probably no right or wrong way to fit it.

Brilliant sound so far.....:D

That looks like a lot of effort to fit - and having to remove the headlight!?

Should have got an ABD one

Seriously though - what's the sound like - the ABD one is VERY loud - but if this one is louder i could be tempted ;)

(sure looks good!)

I've only heard the ABD on the video clip that was posted a while back (Monkey Boy?), perhaps he is best qualified to comment.

Otherwise, wait till April 24th?

Dave,

I suspect this is as loud as the ABD with K&N. The ABD with gause is alot louder, if that's what Des demo'd to me.

Taking of of the light is one option for one person install...Otherwise push a friend under the car. The connection is a bit awkward, a little to short or long ,but it looks like it fits normal octavias okay.

For me at least it was impulse and ABD were out of stock at IP for a few months...

Will see what I can mange withregard to creating a clip of it..have my camera back now from NZ :D

Will try to ge a video clip at the weekend if i can.

The ABD kit was bit louder but now i have the turbo pipe fitted i think this filter sounds better but thats down to personal taste. Sounds like Trevors Evo 6 now.

Took me 15 minutes to fit mine. Just put it on the ramps and took out the lower inspection panel at the bottom of the wing liner. On the p clip i have put some sticky back foam and it now holds the pipe tighter.

if anyone is interested in buying a carbonio intake kit please pm me as i am arranging a group buy in march.

do loop !

Snap!

A friend has asked once the air intake is fitted, does the engine need to be tuned or adjusted in any way?

As far as i know the maf or will adjust itself automatically due to the increased airflow, but no engine tuning is needed whatsoever, im right arent I?

You are correct.

Not like the good ol' days when you had to rejet the carb etc. etc.
