Leon cupra or Fabia vRS: pros and cons

Featured Replies

I thought the Leon felt very quick, much more so than the Octy VRS, when I test drove them back to back. Agreed interior is not so good. But with quite a long 6th I would have thought 45mpg cruising should be possible?

Get the Cupra R and be done with it! Also didn't the early R's have electric seats that automatically adjust depending on the key used to open the car?? Or did I imagine that?

The Leon, in Cupra R form at least IS faster than an Octavia RS.

Something to do with the extra 45 Bhp the Seat comes with as standard.

That's easily sorted though ;)

Geoff, it was the standard Cupra I test drove. Probably due to the closer ratios and firmer suspention it felt quicker than the vrs. The R looks quite a lot better spec'd though - Brembo brakes etc

My personal opinion of the Cuprack R..

Quick car, quite nice but i wouldnt chop the RS in for one.

The Brembos are just window-dressing on a road car, the Octy RS brakes with decent pads are more than a match. Then there's the (in)famous Seat build quility..

If they built the Cupra R at Mlada Boleslav they'd be onto a winner ;)

Better still if they built it at Vrchlabi - where they build the 4X4 and A N Other Octavia. :D

Cupra does feel quicker 0-60 but it is just a feeling, gearing is different 6 in Cupra, 5 in vRS... but realistically there is nothing in it.. vRS is more economical, I have owned 2 Cupra's both revisions,, 16inch and 17inch alloy model.. Cupra 28-30mpg vRS 33-35mpg....

I'm ( when I get my botty in gear ) going to get a Fabia vRS... I have test driven it.. and in real world driving the Fabia is equal to the Octy .. with the Fab, far better on fuel, more nimble.. not as good handling, but not far off..

etc.etc.. Cheaper insurance and tax....

well.. my advice is test drive the Fab vRS..

cheers

id go for an octy, i have and octy vRS and my girlfriend has a fabia vRS, both great cars, really like the fabia but i would always choose the octy over it. everything in life is down to personal choice, if you choose any of the 3 your going to have a good car, just find the one that suits you the most

A friend of mine has a nice 53 plate Leon CupR, well except for the cost of tyres, pad, discs, and 98Ron, he loved it. One of the worst things was there is (As far as I am still aware) no metallic black option. The gloss black looks horrible in the sunlight. My mates was the 225one chipped to 265bhp. Would beat a lot of cars of the lights, but in the end got very tedious ! So he sold it and went diesel !!!!!

However, I love my Octy vRS and 17.5k miles later, its still going well.....

had the same choice myself, I personally think after test driving both twice that the fabia is the better option, it has nicer seats, its more echonomical and I personally think it feels faster (not saying it is just saying it feels it)

Good choice of words, look what I started here...
