UK-CZ Trip 2007 Feeler

Featured Replies

Well, I'm prep'd for the trip now. Took delivery of my new sandisk memory stick this evening, and have just uploaded all of Europe (well, the important bits between here and CZ ;)) - Was a bit limited on what maps to use last Sept, on my 128mb card, so the route sometimes got a bit patchy. Literally ran off the map.

I'm now equiped with a Tom Tom 910 with maps for the whole route

September does seem along time away.

It will be here before you know it.

Hmm, good point. What sort of route was last used? UK->FR->GER->CZ? or UK->BE->GER->CZ? or even UK->NL->GER->CZ? Need to find out what teleatlas DX cd's I need to source...

This was the route we used last year (give or take a few detours) in fact I think we touched the outskirts of Holland at one point but this should give you the general idea of the journey.

Calais to Praha map ViaMichelin

From memory, we never touched Holland did we? It was a smattering of France, a good chunk of Belgium, and a whole shedload of Germany.

I've just had word back from Navman customer support! No maps available for CZ! :thumbdwn:

Not on the way back but going there we did pass into Holland briefly before hitting Germany. If you look on a map you will see a 'bit' of Holland that pokes it's way into Germany, that's when we had our brief Dutch excursion.

Edit: Have we had any more interest from our Dutch friends from their forum Q ?.

There is for Tom Tom....

Actually, I think the little route that Shifty took us on back to Calais did take us into Holland on the way back - Antwerpen is in Holland isn't it? Damn, my EU geography is shocking. Our trip into Holland was so brief I never saw any windmills, tulips or people wearing clogs! (:P @ Q)

I would consider a tomtom just to get maps for CZ, but the navman is good in every other respect apart from the accuracy of it's "Europe" maps - CZ is in europe last time I checked. :D

Nope, nothing there. Looks like it is just the single (other) dutch member who's following this thread with great interest.

At the moment it is just me ?

But doing my best to get more to come

Oh really ? Are we ? Thanks ... btw we got some maps of Czech rep, so if you want we can upload it somewhere  . Is tomtom ok ?

I wouldn't mind some maps that I can download and print out for the trip this year. Maybe in A4 PDF form? I guess we only need everything west of Mlada Boleslav? ;)

Well you can try this : Å*koda Auto - úvodnÃ* stránka

There you can see Naplánujte si trasu :

Odkud (from) : rozvadov

Kam (to) : mlada boleslav

Hledat trasu (find route)

And than you hit HLEDAT TRASU again ;-)
