Which remap gives better performance?

Featured Replies

I have recently bought a 53 plate fabia vrs with a Revo remap already done to the engine. I am very happy with the acceleration and overall speed of the car right through all the gears.

BUT

I was initially looking at a Jabba sport remap which claims to yield 10bhp more (180bhp) than the revo remap (170bhp) Is this the case?

Also, is it worth buying the larger intake and filters from jabba sport? Do they really effect the cars performance?

Stu

I would say get the cupra intake - pd160 one. A good fabia vRS mod. Not sure on filters, but the green cotton filter is a good one.

Other mega effective performance mods are a front mounted intercooler, and exhaust mods. With regards to the actual maps, I would say there's little difference. Jabbasports custom map will be done on their rollers, and I'm not sure how the revo map was done, whether just uploaded generically, or tweaked on the road / rollers.

Revo is a generic map. I'm not sure I'd bother spending the full cost of another remap for an extra 10hp, but each to their own ...

:iagree: I doubt that you could tell the difference between 170 and 180 BHP anyway, provided both maps delivered the power in the same way.

To be honest on the same rollers their wont be much between the two power wise.

the pd160 intake combined with green filter yields an extra 10 bhp on a custom remap approx. however i would say get a pd160 intake & green filter on your revo mapped one and the difference would be at a push 5 bhp and that makes no difference, infact instead of increasing power further, why not loose some weight which has a much more pronounced effect i.e. take out the spare wheel, take out the back seats if they aren't needed and your car will be a lot lighter, or get some lighter alloys.

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

If you went to Jabbasport, and got your car remapped. You would drive out expecting more grunt.

Jabbasport remap to around 170hp the same as Revo. Which is about correct.

How do people find their remapped Furbys in the wet? I know my standard Fabia is quite tricky and i can spin the wheels in 1st/2nd & 3rd gear.

You should sort your tyres out. That shouldn't be happening in a standard car.

Urm - yes it does  - On dry road you can sort it out with proper tyres, in the wet 1st will be virtually guaranteed to spin, 2nd could do too.

Remapped it makes it worse as there is far more torque for longer. I normally don't bother with this but as the road was empty I had a bit of a test last week (fairly new tyres). Dunno what power mine is putting out at the moment as it has NOT got a full custom remap to take advantage of what I've got on the car, but easily should be on 160bhp (conservative guess). With a Limited Slip Diff it spun the tyres in 1st & 2nd, only when I dropped it into 3rd it stopped. This was on a dry road, going straight ahead (ESP off).

Thing is, having the occasional bit of fun aside, basically with a remapped or even a standard car, you learn how to drive it in a smoother way, to allow the power to be put down without (much) wheelspin. Plenty of fun that way

The good thing about the Engine is that its tractable.. there is useable performance in the first two gears if you dont just stick the boot in and expect it to go

I also havent seen any proof that jabba maps are better than any other.. its all much of a muchness these days.

Ive had Revo for 70k miles and my turbo hasnt blown up. and its had higher RR results than any other Jabba Fabia thats been done same day.

Edit.. if you checkout awesomegti.com and look at some of the RR results of the various TDIs.. youll see that theyre all v v similar.. theres not much show from jabba tho, think theres a passat on the xmas shootout 2

I've found that I can control wheelspin in mine far better with the tc off, makes for much smoother progress!!

I'm getting mine rr'd next Saturday, will be interesting to see how it comes out!
