Toyo T1-R in 215/40 R17

Featured Replies

Awesome tyres, going purely on looks :) as they're still strapped together in my boot. ;) Mytyres delievered today at my work - Just need to get them on my alloys now. Gonna be a bit of a p.i.t.a actually as I need to swap my front wheels to my track wheels, to free up the wheels to be swapped over, then swap back for 17s. :D Or I might just get the tyre place to do it. :o

Just got some myself the same in 205/40 R17 flavor!! :D

Was actually a bit odd - mytyres didn't have the T1Rs in 205/40 flavour, only 215. Oh well, good job it was 215 I was after. Was quoted 120 a tyre fitted by a tyre fitter near work, for Eagle F1s. :(

Bringing up an old-ish thread I know, but how much were the tyres Jason? And how much to get them fitted? I need two new fronts earlier than expected after gashing one on a kerb :o

Would take a lot to get me away from F1s now - what a blessing that the Ibiza was bought with it running F1s all round :)

Would be interesting to hear what you think to them though, nonetheless. You got any pics of this sexy tread then?! Reckon the F1 design is pretty good too

Steve

The tread looks good, pix on Toyos website. They grip very well in the wet, probably slightly better then an F1, so i was told yesterday by a local tyre dealer, however the F1's life is slightly longer.

After some very good service from GY Eagle F1's in the past I am reading some rather disturbing things about them. Certainly wouldn't be on my shopping list.

Can you shed some light on that? I really fancy trying them when mine need changing...

They are good tyres Jase - that's why I was going round Trax quicker than you. Nothing to do with driver skill :P

I've replaced mine with Pirelli P zero neros and they took a fair bit of time to wear in and were very slippery until now.

I think the Toyos have stiffer sidewalls though as the pirellis whilst awesome in the wet aren't as responsive in the dry as the Toyos were.

Good track tyre, but mine only lasted about 15k miles

I'm a Khumo Man Myself..............:D

Toyo-R's are good.. but make sure you get the XL ones, otherwise they can pinch... also seem to work best with a relatively high pressure in them...

the S's on the other hand i wouldnt reccomend for a fabia as they have a tencancy to scrub the sholders and then start to de-laminate... which is fookin scary when it happens on the mway.

Kumho KU-31s - very very good grippy tyres, but sidewall too soft... my fronts were wrecked well before their time because the sidewalls started to collapse and bulge on the front tyres.. these tyres would be excellent on a lighter car.

P-Zero Neros... now these are awesome.. maybe slightly less grippy in a straight line than the kumhos, but they are far superior in cornering and in the wet... they last well too

I liked the GY Eagles GSD3s except for the collapsing tyre wall at pace, and I've since replaced them with a different brand on the front.
