Jammed their fingers in the door of their Fabia (or any other car)?

Hurts like hell, all I could do to stop myself crying in Halfords car park :(

Might need to get x-rayed for possible broken fingers, nails turned black and I can't bend my fingers.

Can no longer use hand brake with me left hand :(

Am ment to be doing long drive this evening, but not sure if it is possible/legal.

had it happen a couple times over the years, does sting a touch.

ended up at A&E having his nail drained of blood:( , no break though::thumbdwn: (this is him with the bandage on).

Took a while to get better, & I would be careful about driving too soon.

sorry to hear about your finger trapping episode EE , not had mine in the door but have trapped them before , it will take ages for the nails to grow out , you may have to have the nails punctured to remove the blood underneath them , this is what causes the most pain , the pressure from the blood:(

Sorry to hear of your pain EE, but more importantly, how's the car? :-) This reminds me of my mate. He took a client out to lunch to try and woo a big contract from him. Everything was going well until they got to the car (An X5 in this case) The Client hopped in and my mate went to close his door - on this guys hand. Doh! Straight to Casualty. He didn't get the contract funnily enough.

I remember years ago i was servicing my mates capri (so you now know how old i am) and i started it up to get the oil circulated and as i got out of the car turned my back and shut the door as you do and i shut my little finger in it instant pain and blood had to get my mate to look at it as i thought it was off

it wasnt but sort of white grissle hanging out of it which i bit off and instantly fainted

still got the scar

i caught the end of my little finger behind the heavy slide part of a slide hammer , that hurt a bit , missed the nail though

poor emily. My mum once closed the door of our old Volvo on my fingers years ago :( took a chunk of flesh ouf of my finger!

Yeah...Halfords prices aren't that good really lol. I used to hate charging fitting prices. Lots of times they'd just fit it for free cos it takes seconds to do...

i shut my brother's fingers in the rear hatch of his focus...didn't realise and had to really slam it to get it to shut fully.

strange thing is, he's since shut my fingers in the door of his octavia...and that was also a proper slam cos somebody had just given his wing mirror a good crack as they drove up the road

:hug: Done it a couple of times as doors tend to swing back and they're blinking heavy. I think it's legal as long as you can drive as if you weren't injured. If you were in an accident, it might invalidate your insurance if you weren't fit to drive. Bottom line is to make sure you can drive competently before setting off methinks.

My fave is opening the door from the outside and having it swing back and hit my head as I'm getting in :( I park on a slope and gravity is quicker than I am. Tsk! *Makes appointment with gravity to discuss*

My missus did it the other day in my Superb. She didnt open the door enough and it swung back shut on her finger.

Have stopped taking the combination on NSAIDs and the ends of my fingers swelled up. Nails going blacker.

Shall try and show a medical professional at some point this week.

Sounds potentially nasty; had I seen this sooner, like in day of/following OP, I'd have advised a trip to casualty.

Ouch Ouch Ouch.....

I've never caught my finger in a door, but most of the cars I've driven seem to have the corner of the rear door at nipple height. The number of times I've stabbed myself......

I've also almost broken my nose by sticking my head out of the window when reversing -then finding it was shut!

I also have a scar on my forehead (used to be hidden by my hair, but not any more :() which came from head butting the corner of the boot lid on my Dad's Vauxhall Cresta.

Oh, and there's the scar on my lip where I hit it with a pair of pliers, putting a brake spring on an old Viva.

maybe you should go to casualty, they might be able to give you some industrial strength painkillers, and if they dont work you could allways sell them on ebay

In my Polo, the doors had a point to them - and I always without fail hit my head on it. Needless to say it hurt.

I still do it in my Furby when Im in a tight gap :confused:

Should either get a helmet or whack some foam on the top of the door

Ow that is going to hurt. Hope it gets better soon.

Did shut my finger in the Omega door (very heavy). Hurt a bit and swelled up like a good un. Just broke the end bone, so taped / splinted it up and left it a couple of weeks. Fine now.
