Alienware PC's

Featured Replies

They look very cool, but are they worth it? Anyone had any experience of Alienware? They seem very expensive for what they are.

You are paying for the brand name.

Think of them in the same terms as Bang & Olufsen hi-fi and you get the idea.

They are now owned by dell, and are very expensive for what they are.

At the end of the day you can build the same for much less, but they are a fashion statement (mainly for uber-geeks).

Over-rated imho, but very nice none-the-less.

they build good rigs, but as said above, save money and build your own :)

yeah, but you've got to admit they look really cool!

Nice cases, but that's where it ends for me. Dr Z's B&O comparison is a good one, gets the point across and very valid IMHO.

:iagree:

i dont even like b&o stuff, much prefer the sound of bose speakers

A friend of mine had a top spec Alienware laptop for about 9 months.. in that time he had the hard drives replaced twice and the motherboard replaced 3 times.. at this point he requested a completely new laptop.. which he received eventually..

The new laptop lasted less than 6 weeks before it too became faulty... at this point he returned it and got his money back...

He said when it worked it was great.. very fast and did everything it said on the box.. but it was just completely unreliable... :(

On a side note.. the bad guys in season 4 of 24 where all using Alienware kit :)

so that's why the bad guys never win??

They do look v.nice but if you look at the thermaltake range - then chose a good case and build your own it works out alot cheaper :D

Thats what I did and I have no regrets..
