sunroof probs?

Featured Replies

 Hello everyone.

Does anyone have any experience with elec sunroofs?

mine doesnt seem to want to close properly:( If you slide it open fully, then go to close it, it closes so far then stops and reopens, but will close fully if you hold the deflector down and move your fingers out very quickly:confused: Once its closed the rear of the glass protudes above the roof, as if you have it on a slight tilt. The glass seems to be protuding more and more, after having it open:(

Does anyone have any ideas?????

is the deflector sticking and causing the sunrooms "don't cut the kids head off" mechanism to cut in?

Sounds plausible, but it also sounds like the roof isn't stopping in the normal "park" position. Certainly mine doesn't stick up more at the back than at the front when it's closed.

Tis true, mine sits flat when closed.

Mine is fairly flat, but not flush with the roof (maybe a mm or 2 raised)....

That's what I meant Matt; not "at the same level" flat, but "parallel and the same height above the tin all round" flat.

sorry

I'm recovering from an eye op ..... so that is my excuse!!!

Its possible, will have a good check and put some lubricate on it. But doesnt explain why the rear sits up, im talking a good 5-10mm different above the roof, with the front being flush with the roof, and the switch in the fully closed position???????????:(

have you opened it back then pushed the switch right back to get it right back?

I have no idea if it is possible, but it almost sounds like it is opening upwards on one runner only a little.

I think we may have exposed another issue here Motley; when were the runners on your sunroof last lubricated? It's a service item (every 80_000 miles?).

Mine get s the runners lubed every service

With a good climate control, I'd rather not have a sunroof at all, and was commenting from memory on the service schedule, since I was looking through bills etc last night.

mmm, I dunno if mine has ever been done. what should I lube the rails with? Being that I live on the coast, I have noticed some sand in there, so I guess I had better get the vaccuum cleaner out to gobble the sand up.

Our sunroof did this... remove the trim by the sunroof switch... this reveils the motor... there is a little handle for manual closing... you can use this to adjust the final 'sitting position' of the sunroof slightly.
