Multi Function Display failed?

Featured Replies

The MFD on a friend's Octy failed recently. The dealer is asking almost GBP700 to put in a new unit. Is there a way to figure out if it's just the LCD that's blanked out instead of the whole unit. And also where can the LCD be bought?

£700 sounds like a whole new dash unit......

It nothing else a a visit to a scrappy for a new dash unit and then remove the LCD display and place in the original dash might help....

Failing that ebay maybe your friend.

If its just the LCD, then the system should power on and you should be able to get sound off FM, but with no display.

edit. Oops dont think you mean the MFD satnav, but the display between the speedo and rev counter. If the latter then it could be a blown LED/Bulb which should only be a few pounds to sort diy if you are any good at electronics.

I assumed we were talking about the mpg/avg speed/clock/temp/trip time/etc LCD display.....

Isn't that in the base of the rev counter? The area between rev counter and speedo (and below fuel and temp gauges) is full of idiot lights on mine.

yep... what I class as the MFD is in the rev counter, and I have a set of lights between the between the rev and speedo.

I have a spare instrument cluster for a diesel Octavia with MFA if your interested?
